Us Against You (Beartown, #2)

Two five stars in a row! That never happens! I needed to get this read so I can watch the movie Beartown. The Swedish version! (I read somewhere Tom Hanks is going to play Ove in A Man Called Ove 🙄. I wish Hollywood would stop trying to remake foreign films - they aren’t as good as the original.). I was afraid the movie would give something away from book 2. Then I’d have been ticked off.
Anyway - I loved this book as much as it’s predecessor. Sometimes I felt things got a bit over the top but who cares really! It’s just great storytelling. I love Bakman’s dialogue. I love the way he ended everything (even though there is sadness). I feel like I got closure. Although I wouldn’t mind reading a book about Benji’s life. 🙂
I found this to be laugh out loud funny - “Agendas. Is that when we’re calling it now? Can’t women be allowed to sleep with whoever they like? “Ha! There’s no one who has more sympathy for lesbians than me, because as far as I can see they’ve drawn the winning ticket! There’s no reasoning with men, so you might as well get rid of them!
Other quotes I wanted to mention -
“It’s so easy to think that what we post online is like raising your voice in a living room when it’s actually more like shouting from the rooftops. Our fantasy worlds always have consequences for other people’s realities.
“Our spontaneous reactions are rarely our proudest moments. It’s said that a person’s first thought is the most honest, but that often isn’t true. It’s often just the most stupid. Why else would we have afterthoughts.
“Unfairness is a far more natural state in the world that fairness.

My thoughts exactly. Why remake it at all? The Swedish version all the way.

Thank you Mike 🙂

I look forward to my next Backman Cheri!

They are both great! Have you watched the series? I think it’s on HBO.

No, I haven’t. Sadly, I dumped my HBO a couple of momths ago. 😂

I haven’t yet either. I’ll let you know what I think...

That would be great, Melanie!
