This book is just as much fun as you've probably heard by now. Four septuagenarian residents of an upscale retirement home enjoy solving cold cases to their unofficial satisfaction, each contributing a unique skill set to their investigations. Then one day a real murder (no, make that two) falls into their laps.
These sleuths are affectionately well drawn and the gradual exposition of their back-stories, along with those of other featured characters, is perfectly timed. The descriptions of life in their community, the friendships and disagreements among the residents, and the beautiful setting along the Kentish coast were, well, very pleasing during this time when there is so much in our worlds that is anything but pleasing.
I'm not a big fan of cozies as a rule, but this one rises to the top.

So am I! My enthusiasm for that genre can always be perked up with the right setting, and feisty old people is one of those.

Absolutely! I can see future volumes featuring the back-stories of each of the other three, but with Elizabeth never out of the mix.
