it was ok

This may be allegory and/or satire, but I was hella bored. Chapter 1 is genius. The rest did nothing for me.

Concept > execution.

Cecily I don't disagree that: Concept > execution, though that's probably more true now than when it was written. On the other hand, I actually preferred part 2 to part 1. At least it had a bit of a story, as well as exploration of fewer and more dimensions.

I think my expectations were too high. I had been looking forward to reading this for several years before I got around to it. I knew going in that there wasn’t going to be much of a story, but I think I was looking for more of what is found in chapter 1 than what makes up the rest of the book. I wanted some kind of mind-expansion, and instead I got an allegory that didn’t tickle my mental fancy in the way I anticipated. I was sad that I didn’t enjoy the book after looking forward to it for so long.


Cecily High expectations can be a curse, can't they? It's also why I'm wary of rereading books I loved long ago.
