I only discovered this recipe a couple of years ago, but it has already become one of my favorites. It's hard to believe that the different ingredients go together! In fact, they complement each other perfectly.

French manga with fatal love stories and roasted Sartre

1 medium manga
2 fatal love stories
whole early Sartre, including author
Lewis Carroll-style wordplay
some P.G. Wodehouse
ridicule
panache
brio

Trim the manga, retaining a good part of the extreme violence, sex and nudity, and transpose into French novel form using the method from page 73. Add the love stories, the wordplay and the Wodehouse, and stir well. Set aside in a warm place for an hour until it has risen.

Meanwhile, turn the Sartre inside out and tear it to pieces. Make sure that both the author and La Naus茅e are completely covered in ridicule. If you do this correctly Sartre will still be a lifelong friend, but be warned that you may not get it right on the first try.

Fold the Sartre carefully into the main plot, then pour into a pot-boiler and simmer until done. Serve immediately with plenty of panache and brio.

I can't find any whole early Sartre. Can I substitute a can of sliced early Sartre?

Manny It won't be authentic, you know. But if you must.

Manny The really important thing is La Naus茅e. Without that genuine vomity flavour, the whole balance is off.

Maybe tinned Sartre and concentrated essence of barf? I seem to recall it's available at most good American supermarkets. Look near the processed cheese.

With two kids, a longhaired cat and a dog with a nervous disposition, the concentrated essence of barf won't be a problem. We grow our own.

It's free-range and organic, too.

Manny Oh wow. So you have your own barf still? I've read about them but I've never seen one. Neat!

Whitaker I vote yes (although the comments are almost funnier than the review).

David Cerruti - There's a sale most mornings on Rue Vomitorium.

Chris Chapman see if you can find this . Asco is Spanish for nausea. This company's products used to be more generally available. I think they did a tinned ratatouille.

Avedon Arcadio What?

Manny Okay, okay, I have restored the rest of the review.

Glenn Russell How many times do you come across a review combining Sartre with Wodehouse? Just the thought, Reginald Jeeves in the service of Roquentin.

Warwick Should also be seasoned with jazz music, but otherwise your recipe looks very authentic!

Manny @Glenn: I am trying to remember whether the Jeeves character ever meets the Jean-Paul Sartre character. As far as I can recall, the answer is no, which is probably just as well. It's amazing enough that they managed to get this close to each other.

@Warwick: Damn, how could I not have mentioned the jazz? Apologies to everyone who tried my recipe and had it fall flat. Now you know what to do.

Manny I tried adding just a little Der Magnetiseur and you're right, it really brings out the flavor of the violence, sex and nudity! Top tip!

Th茅o d'Or Merde... I added 79 centilitres
of houellebecq juice, and the pot erupted like a volcano. Could it be because of the acidity of the juice in combination with the sartric stabilizer ?

Manny I've tried to juice Houellebecq before, but the bastard just won't hold still. What's the secret?

Anyway, having produced some you shouldn't waste it!

Th茅o d'Or One thing is for sure. Strong essences should not be mixed. Ha ! The bastard knows that best :)
