Any sort of improvements over book 1 and 2 are wiped out by the gimmickiness of the plot. Harry is dying or on the verge of dying then gets saved by deus ex machina. It's to a comical level how often this is abused all throughout. I'll try book 4 and hope that Butcher finally strikes the perfect balance to take this series out of the average 3 star rating it has been so far.

Kat (Books are Comfort Food) Well that stinks. Sorry, Kon.

Adina (notifications back, log out, clear cache) Exactly. No 4 will be my last chance granted to this series.

I'm reluctant to try it at this point. This plot was so annoying.

Cliff M Agreed. I couldn’t believe how bad book 2 was compared to book 1. That was the end of JB and his cliched main character (Clint Eastwood with a wand) for me.

Lol he wishes he was like Clint Eastwood. I don't remember Clint ever spewing childish sexual jokes. The more I think about it the more I think book 3 might be the worst one so far.
