Guys, this book was so good!! Like almost 5 stars. Thanks to Ainhoa for doing this Buddy Read with me! It was fun and it really helped to have someone else to talk to about this book.
The sexual tension at the beginning of the story was too die for. I was smiling and lowkey freaking out? IDK that's how I get sometimes with good sexual tension. Also, there were a lot of mysteries that the author did a good job of not revealing too soon, instead, she gradually revealed them to us and with a lot of showing rather than telling, which is appreciated!! Too many books suffer from telling rather than showing. For example, how come Eva became adopted by Easton's family if the parents didn't even seem to like her/interact with her much? What happened to Eva's dad? Who was this bad guy from her past? Why does Easton's dad seem to hate him? Why does Easton seem to never talk to her, yet watch her all the time with his intense gaze? (view spoiler)
Plot: The story starts out with thirteen-year-old Eva running away from her dad and the man he's sold her to at a hotel. Then the story jumps next to the present when she's 18, adopted by a rich family with a son named Easton she's had a crush on for a while who is one year older than her. Eva attends Caspian Prep High with Easton, a fancy high school where wealthy people's children attend.
She's known as the school slut there.
I didn't really like how at the beginning, Eva went out of her way to cultivate a bad reputation. Later we learn how a lot of this bad reputation is really just smoke and mirrors. She didn't really even enjoy her encounters with other boys (men) too.
Easton was my favorite part of the story. He was so caring and kind but also really intense and a little mysterious at the same time. Honestly, can I have Easton??! He was just that great. So great that I'm making a new shelf, Can I have him? (heroes I would like to be with) Hero hall of fame shelf, for my favorite heroes in romances.
It was even really cute how in their first intimate scene they didn't even have sex, rather they were just grinding on each other but it still got them both off & meant a lot to both of them.
So this is a stepbrother stepsister romance but it's also a forbidden romance too and takes place during high school, so if that sounds interesting to you (beware of the trigger warnings though!), definitely pick this one up! I really enjoyed it.
***I do not consider this Young Adult.

I LOVED EASTON SO MUCH. He really made this book.
IKR, I'm so glad we stumbled upon a good book and not one we both didn't enjoy for a buddy read. That would have really sucked
Fab review Audrey! xx
