** spoiler alert ** lowering my rating once again because there are actually many wrong things about this book that i couldn't pinpoint at first because of how emotional i got but that i can now see. please check gloria's review here, she made an amazing job at reviewing this book thoroughly and brought to light some pretty disturbing things : /review/show...

update (spoiler alert?) : i've seen a lot of people on the internet acting like this book is a romance : no it's not. as someone who can relate to this story in a way or another, it's very triggering to see people reducing the plot to a second chance love story when it talks about such an important and rarely discussed topic. just stop. for God's sake, stop.
(view spoiler)

in conclusion, this book made me cry. a lot.
thanks Colleen Hoover for destroying the last bit of mental stability i thought i had 🤡

nethra EXACTLY OMG

gloria .☆゚. it also really bothers me when people confidently say that this is their favourite book and it has their whole heart. like what?? what did you like about it -_- because i don't think they loved it because they learnt the stages of domestic violence yk?

Miri (Taylor's Version) I still don't understand how some people are still team Ryle. Like did we read the same book?

persephone ☾ @gloria no but really if you say this is your favorite book but you don't give me a proper explanation as to why, i'm not trusting you 😐

persephone ☾ @Meira thank god i never encountered a Ryle apologist but if i did i would certainly have lost my mind

and its always the girls who only read contemp romance like...are you considering this your fave of the supposed genre? oh and also, the people who just recommend this as a book to make you cry?????

gloria .☆゚. also, i'm realising i was v defensive of atlas in my review but you're so right omg, i forgot about the age difference.

persephone ☾ @gloria YES and that's the worst !! it's not a romance baby it's literally a story about abuse, even if you don't relate to it you could at least show a little compassion and human decency ?? is it that hard really ?

thank you for reconsidering <3 Atlas has his qualities and i can appreciate that but that's just something that's a big no no for me

i strongly wonder why colleen decided to make it that way? what a strange decision tbh. and ofc <3 just edited my review accordingly.

hope you're okay <3

persephone ☾ @gloria yes it was really strange !! it added absolutely nothing to the book (especially because it was not discussed afterwards, they just acted like it was the most normal thing ever)
i hope it will be discussed in the prequel, and by discussed i mean i hope Colleen Hoover will make it clear that this is not something that's supposed to happen

yes don't worry <3 it's a pretty hard subject for me to talk abt and it's kind of infuriating to see how trivialised it has been, and how people use some parts of it as some sort of punchline for their dumb jokes ...

Precious I love that you’re saying this because I felt the same about Atlas. I would’ve liked it better if he wasn’t in it or if he wasn’t her romantic interest and just a friend. It was a powerful story that didn’t need that romance aspect of it

e I absolutely agree. And they have the audacity to defend Ryle. Like naaah.

Christina McLain Yes the abuser for one thing is given.a really good edit. It comes across as a sad love story when it's really the tale.of spousal abuse. The minute he hit here.she should have left. I am not saying he was a stereotypical wife beater but the whole story.seems to want to tiptoe around the damage.inflicted on Lily. And there are just too many corny coincidences eg. Atlas as the waiter, Ryle as the brother of the woman who is her new employee. Ask all the women in shelters if they'd believe it. Turning a tragedy into insipid rom com. Yuk.
