It Ends with Us (It Ends with Us, #1)

**2024 Update: Watched the movie and loved how they handled the important parts of the story, but the drama with Blake and Justin is wild**
**Read book again--continues to be moving.
**Update** After a second read I'd like to give It Ends with Us 4.5 stars.
Colleen Hoover does a phenomenal job inviting, rather than challenging the reader to feel exactly what the protagonist, Lily is feeling. We take the journey with her, which makes the story honest and raw. Ryle is also a character you can easily fall in love with. The naked truth: this book is real.
There are some cheesy parts that I couldn't get over--my reason for not giving this book a solid 5 stars.
For instance, the main character's name: Lily Bloom--it was too convenient her name paralleled her career.
I look forward to the second book and can't wait to see where Hoover takes the story, without giving away too much.
***
I give this book a solid 4 stars. It's pretty 'un-put-downable.' I have recommended it to several people and everyone has fallen in love.
It's the story of relationships, what we will put up with, and what we won't.
Some of the storylines were predictable and highly unbelievable, like finding her long-lost high school homeless friend. I think It Ends With Us gives an interesting perspective on a very important social issue.
Without giving away too much, it helps the reader understand the reasons a woman has more than just her feelings to think about when put in a difficult situation. It invites readers to invest in the protagonist, and give time and space for her emotions and feelings to come to terms with her situation. Not everyone will be ok with this book, for various reasons.
I think this book had a great message. I can't wait to read the second book!
4/5 stars.
**update: just watched the movie, it was great!

Thank you, Lisa. This is one of my older reviews. Less reflective, but alas, it worked!

Thanks! Terrie, appreciate it.

Jenny, you spoke my words! I can't say she writes well, but she sure has a story to tell!
