Notes: Brazenly bizarre, creativity's the star, every character's distinct, fleshed-out seamlessly succinct, fine like sci-fi caviar.

Notes:
(1) Ever since I've been active here, people have said to me: "Have you read Saga?" "You need to read Saga!" Why haven't you read Saga!?"
- Fine, I'm reading "Saga." Happy now?
(2) I hope I love this. Anything less would incur pestering from "Saga" stans who are inordinately precious about and protective of this series.
- Oh, the hostility and passive-aggressiveness!"

Chapter 1:
(1) That first issue was TRASH!
- I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Just trolling to see if people actually read past the first line.
- Let me know if you spat out a drink :)
(2) First issue's quite good, not blowing my socks off or anything, but enjoyable.
(3) As predicted, Vaughan shows his penchant for slicing heads clean in two or exploding them.
- In this case both."

Chapters 2-3:
(1) After a cursory search, it turns out Marko's people speak Esperanto.
- More or less an alien language already.
(2) At first, I started reading this with American accents in mind. Then, suddenly, there's all these Briticisms! So I've decided everyone's British now.
(3) I enjoy that everyone has a distinct personality, regardless how much of them we've seen."

Chapters 4-6:
(1) Solid first volume. I'm not gaga over it or anything, but I'm looking forward to more.
(2) There's one standout issue that, if I rated this in singles, I'd give five-stars. Though, as it's a collection, I'm averaging it out to four-stars.
(3) I was already spoiled about the plot twist at the very end. Possibly, I might have enjoyed it more had I not known."

Hilda Sci-fi caviar!!! Best description ever!! It’s really good. I love this series so much. Just don’t get attached to any character. They do war very well and war is full of death.

Happy you think so, Hilda! Glad to hear you're such a fan of the series. And yes, this does make a habit of building up characters just to tear them away 😉

Koen Ahhh, you're also diving into the Saga saga!! 🥳 Hahaha, sci-fi caviar, yep that sounds about right!! Enjoy the rest of that sweet, sweet parade Jayson! 😁

Thanks, Koen! I appreciate it. Glad you like the analogy :)

I've actually finished the whole series. Problem is, I went through it so fast, I didn't pause to write reviews for them all. So, right now I'm going through that laborious process of rating and writing reviews for all of the books, which is all the more cumbersome since a good amount of time has passed 😅

Alexandra Elend Wolf Fine like sci-fi caviar is the best description I've ever heard of this volume and it fits the uniqueness of this series so well.

Amanda Van Parys I've had the first 2 big volumes for years ... need to read them!

Thanks, Alexandra! Happy you think so. I thought it was an apt comparison, not only in being of a high quality or higher tier, but also for being rich, decadent and over-the-top :)

Jayson Amanda wrote: "I've had the first 2 big volumes for years ... need to read them!"

Glad to hear it, Amanda! I had exactly the same problem prior to reading this... except I had all three omnibuses collecting dust on my shelf :)

Chasity It was just too much for me in so many ways. I’ve tried and checked it out from the library a few times. Have enjoyed seeing your comments, though.

Yes, this series is definitely not for everybody. I'd have to have a decent sense of a person before recommending it. Glad you've enjoyed following me through it though 😁
