it was amazing

1

Because I could not stop for Cops
They kindly Stopped for Me
The Roadblocks covered all three lanes
Perfect Symmetry

2

A narrow Fellow - in the grass
With one eyed snake and smile
You may have met him did you not
The local paedo phile

3

I heard a Boy-Band - when I died
The Radio - was on
And rushing so - to switch it Off
And catching - my left Thumb

And dancing round in - Painful Jig
And - tripping on a clod
Such - Banal invitation - to
The Vestibule of God

4

Hope is a thing with feathers
That perches in my Bowl
And pecks up all my Cereal
Until it's drowned in milk

5

When the Landlord turned - the drunken Bee
Out of - the Foxglove's door,
They arrested him - for being "twee"
And broke his - fingers four

Kris I'm loving this review, Paul. Quite excellent! And as I am reading your poems, I have The Yellow Rose of Texas going through my head -- your poems fit the melody perfectly, as do Dickinson's poems.

BTW, have you seen this?

Paul Bryant argh, I had not heard of that! I have to have it!

Kris Paul wrote: "argh, I had not heard of that! I have to have it!"

I think the image on the cover is brilliant.

Jonathan Terrington I sense a parody here...

Bettie #5 has a real Inspector Rebus feel to it. How fun these are and what a talent you are.

ETA #2 has a Gadfly Savillesque impact

message 16: by Virginia (new)

Virginia Another one for your Best of anthology, Paul.

message 17: by Nikita Maria (new)

Nikita Maria (reclaiming my literacy) A good portion of Emily Dickinson's poems can be sung to the tune of "Amazing Grace." You did a solid job capturing her rhythm. :)

message 18: by Paul (new) - rated it 5 stars

Paul Bryant yes, she was stuck in a hymn metre groove

I didn't think much of the recent biopic
