This was a really enjoyable work of urban fantasy. I loved the idea of a London Below made up of people who have fallen through the cracks of regular London. I found the plot just as interesting as the setting, and I enjoyed the author's descriptions of the setting. I did have a difficult time connecting to Richard or Door, however I enjoyed many of the other characters (The Marquis, Hunter, and some of the villains). The relationship and interactions between Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar were well done and made them two of the best characters in the book. I also enjoyed the humor throughout the story and felt that it added greatly to the overall tone of the work.
