McCarthy is crowned in my mind as the Reigning King of Bleak.

Jen Agreed. What shall be his crown?

Natalie Hmm....blood-tinged ashes, a twist of gnarled thorns? And a human femur as a scepter?

Jen With the brilliant gem of misery glinting from a ring round his bony finger. And all are made to kiss it and ....despair? Die? Wish they were dead so they wouldn't have to make a zombie contingency plan AND a shopping list of canned foods for the apocalypse?

Natalie Max Brooks wrote my zombie contingency plan for me; I don't have any worries about that :)

However, in the event of any other apocalyptic cataclysm, I'm kind of screwed. Guess I'll just have to save the last bullet like Man and Boy.

I could really stomach those "He went to Jared!" commercials a hell of a lot more if they featured brilliant gems of misery glinting from rings around bony fingers.
