My bad pronunciation is worth it, because he smiles. No, he beams, so radiant it makes my heart just stop. "I love your smile," I whisper. "It's the first thing that took my breath away when we met."
"Oh, tu me dis des mots doux," he whispers. He's still smiling. I'm still dying.
three books in, and something i've noticed i love about Tal Bauer's writing is his ability to write natural chemistry between his mcs. i felt that way with Luke and Landon (You & Me), Brennan and Reese (Secret Service) and now with Bryce and Hunter. the moment they first interacted, i was a goner. what i found really cute with their interactions in the beginning was how, in Hunter's pov, we knew he had always looked up to Bryce as his hero but i loved how Bryce was the one making the effort to strike up a convo with Hunter. 🥺
despite the little bump in the road before they officially got together, i would probably still describe Bryce and Hunter's relationship overall as sweet and romantic. i loved how they immediately clicked (without it feeling forced, as in i actually believed how drawn they were to one another) and the way they were just IT for each other. <3
the side characters!! i loved the Montréal Étoiles team and how they really felt like a family. the whole scene when (view spoiler) . also, i wish we had met Hunter's sisters. the way he described his relationship with them sounded so cute. 😩
Still, I check both directions before I kiss him goodnight. "I'll see you at breakfast."
"I'll see you in my dreams," he breathes. "Dors bien, mon coeur."

totally understandable how the second half can come across as boring!! angsty romances are usually more my cup of tea bc of the range of emotions it brings out in me (unlike cute, sweet romances where i love seeing the couple be happy and in love, but i also need that conflict and hard-fought hea to keep my interest lol), but i do think it also depends on the author and how they execute the story. this is my third book by TB and i've enjoyed how sweet and romantic his stories are, but maybe i'd feel differently if it was a different author.

thank you!! yes, i 100% agree about their families. i was hoping they would make an appearance at some point in the story. :(
