""...they were evil things - mountains of madness whose farther slopes looked out over some accursed ultimate abyss. That seething, half-luminous cloud background held ineffable suggestions of a vague, ethereal beyondness far more than terrestrial spatial, and gave appalling reminders of the utter remoteness, separateness, desolation, and aeon-long death of this unfortrodden and unfathomed austral world""

I am enjoying the stories, but there is a lot of similarity with some of them. My next one to read is At the Mountains of Madness which is quite a long one, but I am looking forward to it!

I am enjoying the stories. Have been reading this book for a long time, I like to space the stories out between other reads! I've had this book for over 10 years now and have decided that this is the year I'm going to finish it!

I'm exactly the same. I have The Whisperer in the Darkness which is also a collection of stories, I seem to read one every now and then.

There's been a few that I have really enjoyed. Herbert West - Reanimator, The Colour Out of Space, The Call of Cthulu, The Shunned House, The Whisperer in Darkness, The Dreams in the Witch House. I'm currently on At the Mountains of Madness which I am enjoying so far!

It's a great collection. I also have the Eldritch Tales collection, they look great on my shelf together!

It took a long time but finally completed it! There are some great stories in there that I know I will be returning to in the future.

You should try the Poe one now, if you haven't already. 🙂"
It does feel like an achievement completing it! I do have The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe, but I think I will read Eldritch Tales: A Miscellany of the Macabre next!

I'm looking forward to it and shouldn't take me so long as its only 540 pages!
He's good, but damn it's exhausting reading his stories.
