it was amazing
bookshelves: books-i-would-blurb

Merciful Buddha, this was so good.

It's *so* good I wish I hadn't started reading it so soon. Now I have to wait for the next book to come out.

I hate it when I have to wait the next book in a series to come out.

Don't you hate it when you have to wait for the next book in a series to come out?

Daniel Taylor Given that you're my favourite fantasy writer, if you're this keen on something then I'm immediately adding it to my to-read list.

message 2: by Igor (new)

Igor I hate when I have to wait for the next book in a series to come out. Reason why I keep on hold The Name of the Wind and I really wanna read it...

message 3: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Cold... as ice

Stacy Don't poke the bear, Pat . . . ;p

message 5: by Rachael (new) - added it

Rachael My favorite comic of 2012, by far.

Chris Comerford Damn good stuff. Now, the wait until July...

message 7: by Kat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kat So glad you like it.

message 8: by Josh (new) - added it

Josh you mean kind of like im waiting for the next book in the kingkiller chronicle series? boom!

message 9: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Read the books and now purchased them on audio so I can sneak into Kvothe's world when I get nostalgic...something to ease the waiting :P

message 10: by Deidre (new)

Deidre Briar Josh wrote: "you mean kind of like im waiting for the next book in the kingkiller chronicle series? boom!"

In fact, Josh, that's EXACTLY what he meant. Your irony detector is broken. You might want to get that fixed.

Katharine (Ventureadlaxre) Especially when the author is participially fantastic :) One way I've found that makes it almost like I'm reading it for the first time, is introducing someone else to it and listen to them flail over each and every little part :)

message 12: by Frank (new)

Frank Yes, I hate that too, Georg... I mean Patrick.

message 13: by Anthony (new)

Anthony Especially when the first two were awesome and you're waiting for the final book of a trilogy. ;)

Annette I hate that too!

message 15: by Jack (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jack My girlfriend was lovely enough to buy me the first handful of issues for Christmas, yet to read them as they haven't arrived. I was wondering if you'd get around to reading these as you're an avid comic reader. Glad to see you did. :)

message 16: by Scott (new)

Scott Puleo Talk about Karma! Multiply that feeling by the square root of the speed of light and you might come close to the collective amount of anticipation your fans feel for the next installment of TKKC :-)

Chris Rau Oh I get it. You're referring to George RR Martin and the long wait between his books right?

message 18: by Paul (new)

Paul You could just get the individual comics like I do. Yes BKV is God and Saga is awesome.

message 19: by Jim (new)

Jim Dangling the carrot...

Rebekah Hah!

message 21: by Stretch's (new)

Stretch's Books LOL

message 22: by Kara (new)

Kara Good thing I discovered and read The Name of the Wind not five months after I read it. X)

message 23: by Mason (new)

Mason Sometimes the wait makes me want to headbutt a cactus.

varun das back to the sweatshop, rothfuss. finish that book.

message 25: by Daniel (new) - added it

Daniel You. You sir, are a bastard. An incredibly creative and talented man, but still a bastard, to taunt us all so. You know how badly it hurts as we wait on tenterhooks to find out what happens next in the stories of Kvothe! Taunting bastard. I still remember the taunts when you got to read Jim Butcher's Cold Days before all of the rest of us. ::Stalks off in a huff still ranting about authors who feed on the pain and longing of their fans::

message 26: by Karen (new)

Karen you have that right.

message 27: by PJ (new)

PJ Just remember Brian Vaughan is not your bitch.

message 28: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Watkins Brian K Vaughan is one of my favorite writers. Month after month, it continually amazes me how great it keeps getting. Have you read any other of his graphic novels? Don't sweat the comments here about your next book. You just write it at your own pace. You only have a foundation to run.

message 29: by Ric (new)

Ric Mora Waiting is part of the deal, it makes you enjoy the next book even more. :)

message 30: by Jonshann0w (last edited Jan 17, 2013 01:42AM) (new)

Jonshann0w I don't think I have ever experienced this problem. I guess I have just never come across an author who is good enough to draw me in with a story and cause that level of frustration. Sounds like I should give Brian K Vaughan a read as he is obviously very good ;-)

message 31: by Christina (new)

Christina Yup... Hate it.

message 32: by Ari (new)

Ari Yes Patrick, we do. How's the writing coming by the way? Do you need someone to proofread what you've got?

message 33: by Annelien (new) - added it

Annelien I see what'cha did there. I see it. :3

message 34: by Evan (new) - rated it 4 stars

Evan Well, it is hard to quell the urge to burn through a series and receive that bittersweet orgasm of closure, but if you have no option but to wait then I suggest you start looking for a silver lining to the clouds that obscure your view of the goal on the horizon: you can always go back and enjoy the available stories with greater appreciation. You now know where they end up and can admire the artwork and wordsmithing. I read The Name of the Wind over a year ago, then intentionally waited before deciding to move on to Wise Man's Fear. I reread Name of the Wind a couple of days ago, and am now ready for the second book. My appreciation of the first has not waned, and my rereading of it has increased my excitement to finally start with the second set of adventures in Kvothe's life.

As far as Saga goes, I felt the pangs of longing to immediately continue with Marco and Alana's struggle to raise that kiddo in a world that didn't seem to give a shit about her existence. (Well the Universe seems quick keen to help, but the people in it are shite bastards.) But since I can't continue just yet, I've just been ogling the artwork and marveling at the marveling at the genius of creating a future so radical.

Long shory stort: I will be sad when The Kingkiller Chronicles reach a conclusion, but I am sure I will be satisfied.

message 35: by Justin (new)

Justin Langlois Well...I guess if you want the book to be done right you need to give the author as much time as he needs...

message 36: by Franklhawks (new) - added it

Franklhawks Well played Sir Rothfuss...........Well played........

Kayla Yes, I know EXACTLY how that is. ;)

message 38: by Jiyuu (new)

Jiyuu Well, I hate it. But sometimes there are good reasons to keep us waiting. Like spearheading a massively successful charity.

Stacy, you said it best...

Veronica Belmont I don't know, I think good things are worth waiting for.

message 41: by Jax (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jax I just devoured this title. absolutely devoured it. Possibly my new favourite comic of all time.

Michael Jones Thank you for the tip. I would not have read this without a nudge. My daughter and I now impatiently await the sequel.

message 43: by Jorge (new)

Jorge Loved it. Bought issue 6, 7 and 9. Got to the bookstores late and now I can't, for the life of me, get issue 8. Ahhhhhh.

message 44: by Meister (new)

Meister Zig What? No, I assuredly speak for everyone, everywhere, ever, (even you you must just be in a half cracked state), when I say waiting is a thing best done for as long as possible.

Especially in hard fantasy trilogies. If only one could wait forever.

I myself have considered looking into getting cryogenically preserved but I'd only go for it if they could keep the parts of my brain active responsible for staggering impatience, jittery apprehension, and frothy longing active. Perhaps thaw me a few times and dangle sought after books in front of me flipping through the pages, just out of the limit of my eye's rational focus. Hell yeah.

But thankfully the technology just isn't there yet.. so I get to .. wait for it... ...

message 45: by Skip (new) - rated it 4 stars

Skip Gosh, if cryogenic technology is not working, does that mean Walt Disney is not coming back to life?

message 46: by Cole (new)

Cole (mild spoilers)
My buddy who works at our local comic shop recommended this to me. It's absolutely fucking awesome. Just read issue 10 and heaved a huge sigh of relief that Lying Cat made it.

message 47: by Cole (new)

Cole Igor wrote: "I hate when I have to wait for the next book in a series to come out. Reason why I keep on hold The Name of the Wind and I really wanna read it..."

I'm pretty sure he's alluded to the fact that his series is going to be 6 books long before it's all over :p so you might want to keep waiting....

message 48: by Reem (new) - rated it 5 stars

Reem Yes, I totally do. i just discovered this a few days ago and have already devoured volume one. Only one more to go and then I have to wait for the next one :(.

Jessica Pfft. I'm with most of ^ those people! I HATE waiting for the next (final) book in a series to come out.... you turd! You tease! Anxiously, impatiently awaiting The Doors of Stone....

message 50: by Leonel (new)

Leonel Curse you Pat!! XD just kidding, you know you are my favorite author :3
