Shannon "ever-increasing level of misery" is extremely apt. I seriously don't understand why this book has "classic" status.

Cathleen "Classic" my butt. This is the worst! Love the Grosse Point Blank reference by the way. Hysterical!

message 3: by Mario (new)

Mario I agree. The story is very depressing and way too dramatic for my taste.

Alexa Chapman I don't feel as though this book is anything special, it's just kind of a bummer. I think the "classic" status of this book should be revoked.

Julia Serra I honestly don't understand why this book is so bad. It's fairly comprehensible, slightly scandalous and pretty darn exciting if you ask me.

Augustine shocked by such online reviews. I'm only halfway through, but the description of subtle emotions and disposition is INSURMOUNTABLE. The poignancy of vanished things, the crushing isolation, the warmth found in a kindred soul... Everything is on a whole higher level in this novelette, rising so much higher above many books nowadays.

Lisa But ... they slam into a TREE. Like, seriously? The ending ROCKS, though!

Josephine Briggs This book is so filled with unhappiness, characters are trapped into life. The book begins when they are young, wanting more from life but not getting it. A bleak unhappy story.
