A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4)

It makes me laugh that at in the author's note, George promises A Dance With Dragons one year after this. A Feast for Crows came out in 2005, and ADWD didn't come out until 2011. Makes me wonder about the 2015 release date for Winds of Winter. Anyhow, the story. Gah, where to begin.
4.5 stars.
I was probably the most captivated by Jaime's storyline. I have a sudden need to see Brienne and Jaime together, but with the ending of her last chapter in this one, I may be mourning that pairing as I did the one between Jaime and his hand. I love Brienne as a character, but her chapters were sooooo boring. Until she encountered (view spoiler) of course. I like that so many characters just kept popping up; Rorge, Biter, Lem, Tom O' Seven Strings, Catelyn, Arya in Sam's chapter, Sam in Arya's (and neither the wiser). This made me really sad though, reading Arya's name as Cat and Sansa's as Alayne. Ugh, I miss the beginning. Remember when everyone just got along?
(view spoiler) But yes, Cersei's a psychopath and I sort of want her to suffer. Only when I'm reading her from a different characters point of view though, I'm always on her side when she's the one narrating. I hate Margaery as well, only she has no POV to make her case to me, so Cersei's side it is.
And George R.R. Martin really needs to cut all of the walking, sailing and general travelling time that his characters do.

In the Prologue of "A Feast for Crows" before giving him the key, Pate asks "The Alchemist" to show his face. When The Alchemist shows his face. Pate says that he doesn't know him and describes him exactly the same way as Arya described Jaqen at the end of "A Clash of Kings"
Pate dies at the end of the prologue, when The Alchemist gives him a coin. But then at the end he appears alive! Well that's not Pate is Jaqen, who is alive and has infiltrated the citadel. What is he doing there? I don't know. But I'm sure it will be important. And of course Sam is there as a POV to tell us.
There's also another hidden character in the book. I'll tell you if you want to know :)
A Feast for Crows is my second favorite book of the series >___< I don't know how some people say it is a horrible book.

And I agree with you now about Jaqen, I completely missed that! Well observed, and well supported. Please share the other character! I was really excited when Gendry showed up.
And would you mind explaining the importance of Tom O' Seven Strings reappearance if you know it? Ramsay Frey was really disturbed that it was that particular singer Jaime sent to sing for him, but I don't know what the connection between him and Frey were, or I don't remember.

The other character is easier to spot than Jaqen.
When Brienne goes to "Quiet Isle" in search for Sansa she talks to the elder brother of the monastery. The Elder Brother tells her that the Stark that was with the hound was Arya not Sansa and also that the hound is dead.
He tells her that, he buried the hound himself and he knows where the grace is. Later he also tells her a lot about The Hound; How he was an angry man, how he was never loved, how he dreamed of slaying his brother.
How this guy knows so much personal matters of someone who he claims was at verge of dying when he found him?
Well, later. The Elder Brother tells Brienne how he was a soldier, how he fought for Rhaegar and how he DIED at the Battle of the Trident. OK, now we see that this guys as very different concept of death. He tells Brienne that when he woke up at "Quiet Isle" he was reborn as a new man, in the faith of the sevens and bla bla bla.
The point is that. When Elder Brother says "The man you hunt is dead." he refers to The Hound. The Hound is dead. But Sandor Clegane still lives and is there in the monastery.
First, Stranger the Hound's horse is there at the stables. Stranger is famous because nobody except the Hound can control it. How Stranger got there? If not by the hand of Sandor himself.
Second. after all the talking Brienne is sad because she lost the trail to Sansa and Arya. and she says
"It is true, then Sandor Clegane is dead." Elder Brother doesn't reply "Yes, he's dead". He's response is more ambiguous. He says "He is at rest."
And third. When Brienne and Elder Brother are walking around the monastery, something catches Brienne attention.
A gravedigger. Brienne says that the gravedigger is huge! (Brienne is huge! for her to consider another person HUGE means a lot)The gravedigger as all the others at the monastery wears a scarf around his head (so Brienne cannot see his burns) he also as what it seems to be hurt leg (Like the wound Sandor received at the INN) and also when Brienne asks "Who is he?" Elder Brother tells her "He's the newest member of our congregation" and more! the gravedigger stops what he's doing to pet a dog <3 hahaha.
So well, The Hound is alive. I mean Sandor Clegane is alive. The Hound is dead.
For such an amazing and interesting character to died off screen is bogus.
Sorry if this was too long D:
You have to read A Dance With Dragons! :)

But I'm not the only one who has come to realize this. Many of my friends also got the clues :)
In these books (AFFC and ADWD) GRRM is just laying out all the plots that surely (I hope) will get resolve in the last two books. I have a theory about Sandor's fate but it would be spoilers in here.
I can't wait for The Winds of Winter T_____T
P.D.: Now that I read it again... OMG! There's so many grammatical errors in that text D: sorry for my English. It's not my first language. It still needs polish.

The Hound! It was odd that he died off screen, I hope that you're right!
Frey says "No, not him," when Jaime brings him into the tent, which is what I was referring to.

The event goes back to ASOS in one of Arya's chapters when she's with Brotherhood they talk about how Edmure was supposed to bed a girl but he drank too much and well... he wasn't able to perform as a man (Poor Edmure) The thing is that a singer made a song about it. Shaming Edmure's name.
When Edmure recognizes Tom and says "No, not him," seems to confirm that Tom was the singer who wrote the song D: I think that's the chapter when they caught the Hound actually. More or less.
I hope I'm right also. Sandor needs to show up again :) he was a badass.

P.D.: I just watched tonight's episode of the show and the scene when Dany gets her army in Astapor was perfect! :O So Epic. >____<

That episode was amazing. That one spear that just comes out of the ranks and hits the ground. So intense. And Emilia Clarke was so fluent with the Valyrian. I notice that they are doing the Cersei/Margaery rivalry early though. It shouldn't happen until she is with Tommen but Cersei is quite noticeably against her already. I wonder if they will have her wed Tommen at all.

Where do you live now?

What I'm wondering is how they will do season 5. They can't just do book 4 in season five because half of the favourites are missing. They will probably have to do books 4 and 5 together in two seasons.

So are there new characters in the next book? I'm wondering how he would have written all that surrounding only Jon, Tyrion and Dany. Davos? They say he was killed in the last book, but I do wonder if it was actually him. And I suppose Arya might be in it.

Anyway, just finishing up a few other books then I will start ADWD.
