My favourite pairing was Jaime and his hand. I suppose now it is Jaime and Brienne. Why can't they just get together? Oh right, the author is a MAN who doesn't care who you ship.

The one in the first book was important. I'm just wishing he could say the same things in fewer words to get on with the first chapter.
I like the prologues, but because of the size of these books they take so long to come to fruition that I lose track of them, and that's annoying. They turn into second reading, "Oh, yeah...." material.
Yeah, when I read this prologue I was like "Ok..." then, when I finished the book I was like "Holy shit!!!" full circle kind of stuff :P
I remember the prologue for the second novel was the worst. I think it was nearly 40 pages and I'm still not sure it was overly important other than to introduce Melisandre.
