it was amazing
bookshelves: awesome, better-than-i-thought-it-would-be, witch-wizard, vampire, series

OMFG this one was so good. It was a breath of fresh air from the usually Victorian or New Orleans settings of her other novels. We get to go to the jungle AND we get so see some ghost shit through a jade mask? Are you friggin' kidding me, that's awesome! I'm glad Rice finally touched on a non-caucasian character, because her character lineup thus far seemed whiter than milk.

Read this.
Seriously.
I am not even joking.
Don't make me cut you.
Kidding. [Not kidding]

Kristin See, this one was my LEAST favorite of the chronicles. Memnoch is my absolute favorite. I'm excited for the upcoming one in Oct that I even pre-ordered a signed copy :)

[Slaps your hand] Memnoch was more like "Meh"mnoch for me at parts :P

I'm actually a bit tired of Lestat and I think there were much more interesting characters for her to focus on. When I heard she was going to be releasing another book, I thought it was that Atlantis-themed book she was rumored to be working on, then I got disappointed that it was vampires yet again.

I'll read that Lestat book eventually, but I certainly won't be pre-ordering it after what she's done and aligned herself with publicly.

Kristin Well, I haven't read one in decades as I read most of them in the mid to late 90's. She at one time was my favorite author (I was like 14) so yeah, I got a little goofy and pre-ordered it because it was an affordable $18.

Also, I read the Wolf Gift and wasn't that impressed. It was "ok". Although I have liked some of her other non-vampire stuff, I am not itching to read any of it them. I got turned off for awhile with the religious ones.

However, I do know exactly what you mean by how she has aligned herself publicly. I had read some random comments on FB but had no clue until I was more active on GR and aligned with all of these wonderful, real people. I'm disappointed in how she has attacked them for having an opinion.

The reactions to the first Wolf Gift are all over the place, I tended to like it, but thought the second one was a crazy mess. In the end, I read both, I bought both, and I'll leave my reviews of both. I liked some of her other non-vamp books like The Mummy and Servant of the Bones. Maybe I'm just vamped out from the last few years of it.

The religious ones were just dreadfully boring.

Rice used to be one of my auto-buy authors before her kerfuffle, but I doubt she'll be missing my money. If I do read her newer books, I'll just borrow them or pick them up used.
