did not like it
bookshelves: fantasy, did-not-finish, 1paper, 2fiction

I gave it 100 pages & really didn't care about what was going on, so I quit. It could have been interesting, I think. The problem for me was I just didn't get any feeling for any of the characters or the situation. I wanted to, felt I should, but every time I picked up the book it was a chore & I found my mind wandering.

It's good to see constructive criticism as shown here. We certainly cannot like the same books but because of this I now wonder whether or not to buy it! Is your taste in books similar to mine or not? That is the question...

Williwaw Jim's rating pretty much sums up my own experience with this book! It became a chore, not something I was looking forward to.

Jim Well, different types of people & situations click with different people. I was surprised this one didn't grab me when so many of my friends raved about it.

Williwaw I think part of my issue is that I don't take well to novels any more. They ramble too much. I prefer shorter forms.

The beginning of Anubis Gates intrigued me, with the possibility of awakening the old Egyptian gods. But the when the initial storyline got lost and the book became more of a simple time-travel/historical novel, my interest flagged.

Audrey I've forced myself to read 100 pages so far. It's starting to show some promise. I'm giving it ten more pages before calling quits -- and I never bail on books.

Jim Sorry to read that, Audrey. IMO, there are too many books & not enough time, so I bail on them all the time.

Audrey I may stick with it -- it's starting to get somewhat interesting. But my to-read pile has grown to over 300 books, so I'm kind of drowning already.
