it was amazing

What a terrific book to end 2023 with.Watership Down was a completely random pick, and I have to admit , it’s in the running for my book of the year- it was that good!

I was totally captivated and utterly transported into the world of Hazel, Fiver, Bigwig and the other rabbits who featured in this epic adventure story. Not once in 500 pages was I bored or tempted to skim over parts. Scenes of bravery and survival; courage in the face of adversity, trust and lasting friendships kept the twisting narrative and plot tense, exciting and unexpectedly moving to the very last page. It is always the unexpected, unplanned books that I seem to end up enjoying the most and make me so happy to be reader 😊

Diane Barnes I have this on my shelf. I read a really good review last year and ordered a copy but then of course other books got in the way. I read it a long time ago and remember loving it. I think I may pick this up in January. I am promising myself (again) to concentrate on what's already on my shelf this year.

Dave Marsland Wonderful review, Megan. I'm so glad you taken so much joy from it. I can remember it was about rabbits with names, but it was such a long time ago I went there. You may have inspired me revisit it with your glowing thoughts.

Megan Gibbs Diane and Dave- always so faithful to comment on my reviews 😊. I was determined to cobble some words together as a rating on its own would not convey how unexpectedly good this was. It’s not my usual type of book or genre , and definitely doesn’t read as a children’s book. Do reread if you can.

Lori Keeton I simply adore this book and I’m not surprised to see that you love it as well, Megan! It is definitely in my top 5 all time favorites.

Megan Gibbs Lori, how fantastic we both think so !!! firmly a favourite and I’m already missing them.

Laysee Wow! This sounds like an enthralling read for you. It showed in your marvellous review, Megan.

Megan Gibbs Laysee, always far to complimentary of my reviews, but yes it really was an unexpected adventure and great end to 2023.

Candi I just read another review of this book recently and was enticed to read it. Now your wonderful review shows up, Megan - perhaps it's a sign!

Sara I read this many moons ago and then revisited it in 2017. It holds up beautifully. What a wonderful way to end your year! I also love books that I just stumble upon, they call my name and I follow them. Those are often the BEST! Your review made me smile. We so often love the same things.

Debbie W. So nice to see how this classic won you over, Megan! Lovely review!

Megan Gibbs Ah thanks Candi, definitely time well spent with these rabbits !

Megan Gibbs Sara- so true, it’s one of the greatest joys of reading- uncovering these hidden gems of books 💕

Megan Gibbs Bless you Debbie and Happy New year 😊
