If she takes out the handmaids tale aspect I’m going to be upset. That’s pretty much a good chunk of the plot. Sen’s publishing this so she can take down manacled off of ao3 , since people are being weirdos and binding it themselves and selling it. They want to avoid getting copyrighted and or sued by Rowling. However, it not like they are telling people to do this or making money off of others or even their own work. I think Sen’s doing this though to also make sure sites like ao3 don’t get taken down etc. I just really hope this doesn’t become some new adult neutered mess.

@Clarice, she might have to do it I don't think she's gonna take any risks getting sued for copywriting. 💀 I have mild concerns because I didn't like any of her other fics 😩 so all this enormous editing work she'll has to do might change this fic irreversibly. But whatever I'll always have an original masterpiece version if I don't enjoy the new one so it's not a big deal actually. Hoping for the best :)

@хон, well, I see nothing wrong in comparing this book to the original version. At the end of the day this will be a traditionally published edition of Manacled so it's kinda asking for it lmao. Makes sense that ppl will draw comparisons between the two, which wouldn't necessarily mean us not being able to enjoy and appreciate the differences. Especially if the book turns out to be on par or even better than the fic.

I have my concerns mostly because I read senlinyu's other fics and they were average at best for me :)

I have faith that it'll be a great book, regardless of how similar or dissimilar it is from Manacled (though I'm hoping for the former), so I'm just keeping a very open mind. But I totally agree about the title change! If it wasn't an adaptation... I wouldn't look twice at a book called 'Alchemised' lol.

I'm so excited. But also sad that I won't be able to reread the original Manacled. That story was just so good!

So based on comments, is it bad that I bought a copy of the bound Manacled book off Etsy? I have it on my kindle, but wanted the book on my shelf.
