it was ok

I’m struggling to understand the high rating for this one, just like I am struggling to get through the book itself. The characters are flat, and there are about 84 of them. The plot was everywhere, all over the place. This one only has the worst parts of TMC, spy/mob/hitmen ish. Not my favorite. There were a couple of giggles, but overall fairly boring. Sadness. Thank goodness TMC 5 is out in 2025.

Tony I have just got midway in chapter four, nothing is drawing me in to the story, I don't give up on many books, but I had to give up on this.
Thursday Murder Club's draw you in from the first page.

Katy Horning Me, too. I gave up halfway through. There were too many secondary and tertiary characters to keep track of and it bounced around too much. I finally realized I just didn’t care enough to put the work in. I hardly ever quit on a book but I had to give this one a pass.

rachelskid If I hadn’t have been out driving with nothing else on tap for audiobook, I would have quit too.

Catherine Crossley This. Omg, what a struggle to finish. No character development, I didn't like anybody in this book except for the cat. 380 pages and 101 chapters, no continuity. Bring back TMC, puuulleeezze.

Asher Lakes Agreed. I’m pushing through in the hope that some big twist will entail but I’m not hopeful.

Readhead This is my first by the author, and it was so tedious. In what way is The Murder club better? Maybe I'd like it better.

Betsy May be giving up on it

Donna I struggled through to the end, only because we will be discussing it at Book Club this month.

Lynn Krueger-Andes Agreed. Compared to TMC I just couldn’t get into this the same way.

Grace Johnson I am listening to it and may give up
All over the place and the characters are so boring

Janice Exactly this. I’m so disappointed with it.

Lorna Reads Agree, totally all over the place!

Annie I've reached chapter 26 (p.127), and I'm about to give up on this book! I was really looking forward to reading this, but I'm very disappointed.

Carla Hoopingarner I agree...my expectations were pretty high and this book didn't live up to them

Karen Grace I totally agree. This book is a slog. I’m not sure I can make it through it. The humor is bad. And at one point pretty racist when Steve says he can read people and tells the black TSA agent he (Steve) likes hip hop. Joe Blow for a character name. Really? I was so excited to read this. But it’s just bad. I wonder if the people who give it good reviews are reading the same book I am. I hope this sept he goes back to TMC and ditches this series completely.

Diane I'm only a little way in and i'm sorry of curious about the book, but I commented because I'm excited to find out there's going to be a new TMC!

Cherry Goh I agree completely. Disappointed. Give me more of Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron!
