it was ok

I had high hopes for this book seeing as it’s so highly rated. However, in my opinion, the characters lacked depth of real humans, which fell annoyingly flat on the page. But the most grueling aspect of getting through this 400+ page book was how emotionally immature the main character is, whose toxic inner dialogue is redundant, chapter after chapter. I would not recommend this book to a single person I know.

Whitney Deaton I’m so glad I dnf’d after 100 pages. I was kinda trying to push myself that maybe it would get better but I’m glad to know it doesn’t 😂

Ashley West It’s the same borage of inner dialogue and unhealthy/immature tantrums on loop. My civic duty is finished now 😂

Kavi Collins I literally just saw someone say this was on their tbr and I thought it seemed interesting, but Im glad to know I can skip it! Thank you for doing the work so I didnt have to!

Karen Mattison I didn’t like it at all, and everything you wrote was true.

Adriana I write a lot of two star reviews and I respect it. But to say it’s the same borage of inner dialogue and unhealthy/immature tantrums on loop is a huge stretch IMO. There were three pretty distinct sections - the Maddie you describe, the second one who seems to realize she needs to make changes, and the Maddie at the end who has learned enough that she understands what another minor character needed in her moment of grief. Never mind that she also gave up some control at work (a huge deal) and flirted with Dom in the end without making fun of him to do so. And the author acknowledged she needed to go to therapy to make the changes, not just get dicked down by the right guy or some other nonsense. I’d encourage people to read it for themselves if they have the interest! And it absolutely does get better because there’s character growth.

Stephanie DiPrima Literally agree lol her personality was so forced I was cringing all throughout reading it. Like, do less.

Carolyn I'm 30 pages in and I hate her. Happy to dnf this one
