We Solve Murders (We Solve Murders #1)
By Richard Osman, narrated by Nicola Walker
I already enjoy Richard Osman's "Thursday Murder Club" series (more please!) and now he's started this new series, "We Solve Murders" and I'm ready for more. The story is humorous throughout, despite the body count, sometimes because of the body count, and so many people are thinking and saying things we should not think or say and I'm chuckling all the way.
We meet Steve Wheeler, retired but still doing investigative work, such as finding lost pets and such. Steve misses his late wife so much that he "talks" to her via a dictaphone throughout his days and nights. Game nights at the pub and enjoying a beer on his couch with his cat, Trouble, are some of his most favorite things to do. But he also adores his daughter in law, Amy, and they rarely go a day without speaking on the phone at least once a day. When she's on a job and can't check in with him, he worries about her. He knows how you can plan to have years left with a loved one and they can be gone in an instant.
Amy Wheeler is a private security officer and you do not want to mess with her. She doesn't trust many people, she's always alert and wary, and she can take care of herself and anyone around her. But one of her biggest soft spots is her father in law, Steve. She wants him to be okay but she knows his heart is broken with loss and grief. Amy wishes her husband and his father were closer, they need each other but won't admit it.
When it becomes apparent that someone might want to frame Amy for murders and/or murder Amy, Steve's not going to sit still for that nonsense even if it does cut into his pub game night and couch time at home. A huge cast of characters are involved in the action, many with the most rotten of motives in mind, but even the characters who might be on our side don't pretend to be innocent angels. Whether we are following good guys, bad guys, or who knows what guys, everyone is funny in one way for another. So now Richard will be writing twice as much as before, right? So he can keep up with my TWO series now, right? No pressure, Richard, but when is the next book out? ha ha

Yes, stop spreading himself too thin 😂 Thanks, Ceecee!

Thank you, Debbie, I know I'd have enjoyed the print book but I'm so glad I was able to get the audiobook because the narrator was so good! 💚

That's the best way to read a series, you'll get to read four in a row with the first series since they are already out. Thanks, Lisa! 🤗

Thank you, Izzie! 💙

It was so good and I hope the next audiobook has the same narrator. Thank you, Sonya!

I think you'll like that series and this one was just one funny line after another. I could hang out with these people although I'd want to stay away from the ones that would kill me. 😂 Thanks, Donne!

Thank you, Darla, look at the fix he's put us in, having to vote against favorite books for other favorite books 🤣

Thank you, Yun, I should feel bad, laughing at murder, but he writes it so humorously 😏

Yes, because I am older and I know, unlike what I thought in my younger days, that we are no where near done, no where near being put on a shelf, and can often give young ones a run for their money. 😁 Thanks, Baba!

Thank you, Jonetta, can't wait for more and more and more (I'm not greedy, am I?) 😆

Thank you meg! Funny how I ended a murder book with a smile on my face 😂

Thank you, Liong! I can say that both of his series (which includes this one with just 1 book so far) are very entertaining and funny!

Thank you, Heidi, such a funny author, while writing a good story, too 😁

Thank you, Amina! 🌺

Thank you, Dorie! I watch my TV less than once a year but I may have to wake it up for that movie!
