Oliver Twist

There was a lot I didn't like in this story but the ending showed Dickens as I know he is, a wonderful teller of tales.
At times reading this I felt lead by the author and it was intensely and overly emotional lots of tears from the characters but not from me.
I got very cross that Fagin my favorite character in this book because he was so type cast was referred to as 'the Jew' 7 times on one page grrr.
I understand now Jeans thoughts about the evolution of Dickens writing evident in his books.
This really wasn't the best for me but maybe on a second reading sometime in the future it will ingratiate itself to me.

"Yipheee! Back to my wonderful Mr Dickens. My goodness The workhouse or rather Hellhouse was described very well, it made me shudder at the treatment of poor Oliver. He was criminalized as soon as he was born. :("

But then if he'd spent time editing we wouldn't have some of the other novels I suppose! He didn't live to be very old...
