The story follows Lenny, a woman who is grieving the loss of her best friend to cancer and struggling to function. Though she’s trapped in her grief, Lenny still has bills to pay, so she takes a temporary job babysitting a little girl. It’s there that Lenny meets Miles, the child’s grumpy, lurking uncle.
Miles sees what a mess Lenny is, and he knows what it’s like to be in that kind of headspace. As Miles reluctantly inserts himself into Lenny’s life, he becomes the only thing keeping her afloat�� at least until Lenny’s days get a little brighter and she’s able to start living life again.

As Lenny and Miles work through the Live Again list, a friendship blossoms that takes them both by surprise. Bit by bit, Lenny is able to help Miles bridge the distance with Ainsley and his sister Reese while he proves that she’s completely capable of making it through each day. It’s still a struggle sometimes.
But eventually Lenny realizes she’s making solid strides, even if she feels guilty to be the remaining one in her and Lou’s dynamic duo. Miles is there through every step. And she soon finds herself developing feelings for him ..

Miles is a major green flag disguised as a red one. As Lenny explains at some point, if you push him, he'll push back, but if you hold his hand, he'll walk through hell with you. This guy is SUCH a precious gem I cantttttt 😩🙈

This is a VERY slow burn and extremely low spice book and that's a good thing. They both have to navigate through a lot of baggage before acknowledging their budding love.
This book is so much more than a friends-to-lovers romance, as we go on a months long emotional journey as Lenny deals with grief, reconnects with her parents, and learns how to live life again without her best friend.

My only complain about this story, which I really liked it, mind you, is that although it feels unnecessarily long at times.
The second half of the book took an odd turn too. The pacing felt uneven, with some scenes dragging unnecessarily, and some of the dialogue came off as cringey. When I loved the slow-burn romance, and Miles and Lenny ending together * FINALLYYYY 🤸‍♀️😌�� * that spice scene in the end was 😬💁‍♀�� - Please don't come for me 🙂-.
