it was amazing

As wonderful and magical as promised. Because I didn't remember the movie, the third act of the book was a delightful surprise to me.

I wish I'd had this book when I was a kid, because the idea that someone could be special without knowing it, and then get to visit a special world where the things that made him different were the same things that made him awesome would have been really inspiring to me.

Anne's finishing this, too, and I have to wait for her before I start in on the second book ... HURRY UP ANNE!

Tiffany Little If i could be reincarnated as one person it would be Hermoine...that chick rocks!!!

Jennifer I'm on my 8th read through. Still as good as the first time :) Although, I'm slightly jealous that you're experiencing it for the first time, there is nothing quite like it.

Scott It took me forever to get into the books as well. I still have the last one to read though. My wife is driving me nuts to finish it but I have to finish Words of Radiance first!

Corey I always preferred the books over the movies.

message 8: by Susan (new) - added it

Susan I read it and saw the movie. But I have on my list to reread, because I can't remember. I plan on reading them all this time.

Spider the Doof Warrior YEAH! This book is SO GOOD and I want to read it again. Soon.

James Dorell Loved these books as well. Wish I would have read them before seeing the movies.

Amber Awesome Wil! I'd love to go to Hogwarts too even if it is to the one in Florida, it'd be so cool. I hope you and ann are enjoying the books since you guys are doing a buddy read of the whole series. The books and the movies are both pretty good.

Jessica There is so much to take aways from this series. The growth and importance of friendship and finding one's courage is what I found to be inspiring throughout the series. Can't wait to see what you think about the rest. :) Happy Reading!!

Yassemin I want to read this again for like the 5th time, lol!

Selena When you're done with the books, you should try the musicals. And then fan fic and pocasts. And the Wizard World in Orlando was awesome, I need to go back once they've finished Diagon Alley.

Reader Rick It is hard to remember a time without Harry

Chris And Wil Wheaton succeeds at making me love him just a little bit more.

Ashley Love those books!

krazikrys So glad you finally read this book! I loved it and am thinking of rereading them.

Jillian Happy you loved the book. Enjoy the rest of the series.

joanna yaaaaaayyyyy! so glad you will finally have this awesome-ness in your life and your head!

Corey Hope you enjoy the rest of the series Wil.

Corey Peeta M. wrote: "oooh, i'm halfway through the fourth book! <3"

I found the fourth book darker than the first three books, but it was still good.

Alyssa I'm going to be reading this with my six year old soon. I've read the series a few times. Can't wait to share it with her.

Sue  Pilski Hi, Wil! :=)
I'd be honored if you check out and post your book reviews on my book blog, betweenthepagesandbeyond.blogspot.com.
Take care!

Jennifer Iezzi Harry Potter is one of the best series ever written. I love it. My 65 year old uncle gave me the first 4 books for Christmas, and I was hooked. Have all the books and all the movies too.

message 27: by Xiuh (new) - rated it 4 stars

Xiuh Montes león This is the only book I didn't read before watching the movie. Although I wasn't child anymore when I started the series (I was a teenager) I don't think there is any age to stop feeling like becoming that child who discovers that magical world (although I saw myself more in Hermione's shoes for many reasons).

Stephanie Universal studios offers a great way to feel like you are in Harry potter's world! Love this book, but I'd have to say the half blood prince is my favorite.

message 29: by Lori Hatfield (new)

Lori Hatfield I own the first three from the series (first editions) I want to read them again, loved them and it's been forever!

Thomas When you're done with HP, Wil, try Lev Grossman's "The Magician"-series (the third and last book should be out by then). It's like Potter with a bit of Narnia thrown in, a (sometimes very) dark edge and a literary sensibility often reminding of Jonathan Lethem or Philip Roth. Definitely read them one-after-the-other to keep in spirit (which was a lot easier with the filmic "reminders" of Rowling's work).

message 31: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy I read the first three when I was 24 and wish the same thing about having had them as a kid. I love the whole series, and so does my 9-year-old.

Yawo Atikpohou awesomenes

Angelica I love you're taste and I saw you on the big bang theory

message 34: by Rachel (new)

Rachel July 8th you can visit Diagon Alley at Universal Studios. It's like a hands-on experience for those who wish to be a part of this magical place known as Hogwarts!

Belinda in Alabama I was worse than kids while waiting for each HP book to come out. I read the books twice. I loved the movies and have watched them many times. I'm 61 and wish I could attend Hogwart's. Go HARRY!

message 36: by Urvy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Urvy I have a ritual. Every time before JK Rowling's (& Harry Potter's) birthday I read all the books. It's the best feeling ever. I know that the Harry Potter books aren't the best books to ever be written (contrary to what the countless supposed "potterheads" think) but Harry Potter is definitely my favourite series. After all, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was the book that made me fall in love with dragons, wizards, witches, elves, goblins, trolls, castles and of course, owls.

message 37: by Adam Stinnett (new)

Adam Stinnett Hey did you go to buffalo trace because my dad goes there and I LOVE the big bang theory

Maren Hennessy this is my favorite

Maren Hennessy favorite books ever

Alexandru After reading the book and re-watching the movie a few weeks after - it felt strange as though a few subplots and key-information was missing.

JoAlice I've read this book & loved it.
