Added because in the acknowledgements of Perdido Street Station, M John Harrison is one of only two authors credited (the other being the wonderful Mervyn Peake).

Apatt The lesson for any authors reading this is not to break out the champagne when Cecily adds your book, it could turn out to be the equivalent of purgatory ;)

Sir Alastair Reynolds waited about 10 years before his House of Buns got to the top of the pile ;)

Reynolds was no rush because I'd already read and enjoyed quite a lot of his, so I was never going to forget him totally. Thanks for reminding me of this, though.
