Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Update: When they finally got the referral in to pulmonology (lung specialist) the first new patient appointment was beginning of April, so they gave me the last opening in the entire CLINIC for the month of february because some of the doctors are out of town.

Its the 27th. See one doctor on the 18th. Another the 25th (we will discuss the real possibility of a Mast Cell disorder and if/when to schedule some sort of biopsy to confirm mastocytosis or MCAD).

Then the 4th I see gastroenterology. and 10th is the 'big' neurology appointment where we discuss/diagnose/tease out all the co-morbidities.

My brother gets out of prison the 26th, which is my dad's birthday, so I am going out to eat with them.

message 256: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) Goodness - you have quite a month in store. That's awesome they were able to get an appointment for you so much earlier than April.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I was physically assaulted yesterday so plans changed a bit. Appointment 19th, 21st, 27th, 2 on the 4th, 6th, and 10th.

They are hoping no permanent damage to my neck was done. And I have to tease out all the stupid things.

Anyways.... I think pretty soon this year can't get anything but better.. right? :(

message 260: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Who physically assaulted you?? That is terrible. I would hope things can only go up from here Kaylani!

I have had them for nearly 30 years Oda. They suck.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments homicidal hearts. seriously. Your heart should really NOT be the organ trying to kill you.

I agree Kaylani! My boobs tried to kill me (well technically breast tissue :) but at least they are not necessary!

message 267: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I am sure you will do just fine Oda! The best part of college/university is that you are more independent and you don't have the cliches or groups like you do in regular school :)

message 268: by [deleted user] (new)

Heidi *Listen. I'll just keep talking anyway. * wrote: "I am sure you will do just fine Oda! The best part of college/university is that you are more independent and you don't have the cliches or groups like you do in regular school :)"

I know, but its still super scary with new peeps :/ but oh well, things will be easier soon, when I get used to things.
People dont bite,after all..
or do they? :P

hahaha - they don't and in college in my experience everyone just leaves you alone unless you want to chat with them.

Oh,yes.
Anything that keeps you from reading sucks.

a thing that sucks from me:
not knowing if the assignment you are working on is good enough.(it has to be handed in on friday,so I still got time)

I'm sorry Kaylani. *Hugs* :( Oda I hate that feeling ... but you do have a few days! You can do it!

TTDNR: I've been awful at reading lately ... I was 16 books behind schedule last time I checked, not to mention that I haven't reviewed anything in like a year and my "to-review" list is like 40 books long now. But I have so much schoolwork to do, I don't know if I can catch up on either of those things. :-/

message 274: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Brigid you can catch up during Thanksgiving/Winter break! No worries!

Oda I am the ultimate procrastinator and was just impressed you finished something so early! I would have been up late Thursday night doing it in my day :)

I like to procastinate too but I know if I wait till thursday then I wount get it done.
What I end up with is writinf one sentence every hour..(yepp very effective work)

Brigid, reading is supposed to be fun,so dont force yourself to read when you dont have time. but you could always do as me, read in the weekends like crazy and in the week be serious on work\school.

@Heidi - I don't know ... I have this huge senior project to work on that's going to take up a ton of my time this year. But hopefully I can squeeze in some time to read here and there.

@Oda - True, true. The problem is that I always spend time on Facebook or Tumblr or whatever instead of reading when I have free time. So I just want to be able to focus more on books rather than the Internet. :P

message 277: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Cut yourself some slack Brigid. Reading is for fun. You will have time to read for pleasure later. It is harder when you are in college because you are already reading so many other school related things. I remember those days.

I remember my university days, Brigid. LOVED THEM! Once in a lifetime you get to be in a group with like-minded individuals and go on an intellectual journey. Enjoy the ride. Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ will still be here whenever you get the chance to come back, and I imagine you'll be full of recommendations on what we should be reading :)

when you watch an old movie and dont like it so much as before because you see more plotwholes now.
I just saw aladdin, I still love, love the songs but the action I feel its so full of wholes I cant enjoy it so much anymore.

message 280: by Brigid (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Ah yeah, it always stinks when a movie/book/etc. doesn't hold up as well as you thought it would.

message 281: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I have felt the same way by many a 80's movie Oda. Sometimes I wish I left them in my memory and not rewatched them.

message 282: by [deleted user] (new)

also another point, I hate, hate, hate it when you pick up a book that has praises all over the cover, you heard lots of great things about it,and when you read it yourself you discover its pure crap.
I know book love is subjective and all, but I feel its so wrong to put praises all over something, it just makes the expectations so much higher, and that never works out good.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments I have heart surgery this coming thursday. Good thoughts would be great. I am really hoping they give me my NLS audio download account information before so I can use my NLS player to chill and listen to some audio books....

Good thoughts would be great. I also don't know if I am going to have to have neurosurgery yet or if I'm not a candidate and will just have to learn how to deal with the sensory and motor function damage and I have been in the hospital and whatnot and.. meh.

Super stressed but people have been coming through for me and its nice to see.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Thanks. I hope to be back-ish after surgery. I had a small eye surgery which has helped my eyes not get so puffy and hateful. Someone gave me Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe and I started reading it. I don't want to put it down but I have to finish getting everything ready for surgery... but after surgery that book is getting eaten :)

And that book is awesome. :D

message 293: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Thought I would update. I had surgery on Thursday. Emergency surgery to fix the surgery Friday. It didn't totally get fixed but the infection rate is too high to go back in now. SO I will have another heart surgery in 6-8 weeks. Until then I basically get to do a whole lot of nothing. Once the meds stop messing with my brain I hope I will be able to sit and read a book again.

But I feel horrible and really hope my fever starts to leave so I can concentrate again.

message 297: by Harold (new)

Harold Smithson | 87 comments So I figure I owe you guys an explanation of what happened with the contest the summer before last.

What basically happened was that I got so bored with the writing process that I just quit. (I wish it was a better excuse but, for better or worse, that simply isn't the case) More specifically, I was given so many characters to write a description of that as the project went on it became harder and harder to not repeat myself, leaving aside the fact that most book protagonists tend to get a bit similar when reduced to their fundamentals and out of all the books I needed to write about I'd actually read only half of them. So, yeah, sorry about that.

message 298: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
No worries Harold. It got a little crazy. It was fun while it lasted and I found out about a lot of other books/characters I did not know about before.

message 299: by Harold (new)

Harold Smithson | 87 comments It was a lot of fun. I'd consider returning to it during the Summer (I'm currently in my first semester of college) provided we choose a different topic. No promises though.

message 300: by Brigid (new)

Oh yeah, I remember that! It was a lot of fun. But that's okay, I understand it must have been a really overwhelming project. :)
