I`m happy things are better now Jenny.
One of the few things worse than bad days is bad weeks.
And yes though death is always sad, when some dies at 103 its one of the better scenarios. My grandad died at 95 a few weeks after his birth day. He died surrounded by his loved ones and happy. I the end thats a pretty good way to og.

Sorry to hear about your grandma, Jenny. 103 though, that's amazing!

It's very cold here, too. I think the public schools in Boston were all closed today just because of the cold. And our heat was broken ... but someone came and fixed it today, luckily. :P

BRIGID: just in time! I can't imagine how it would feel like with no heat!

I'm glad that many shelters opened their doors for 24hours this whole week. We had two death these past few days because of the cold.

message 415: by [deleted user] (new)

Its normally cold here.
Minus, but not awfully cold, it is very slippery on the roads thought.

Yeah the past few weeks the room my sisters and I share was like a refrigerator... it was so freakin' cold! It's nice and warm now, though. :)

That's nice that the shelters are open. I can't imagine what it would be like to be homeless in weather like this. :-/

on thst note, Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles, #1) by Melina Marchetta would be great as a Movie.

Yes it would Oda. At least I will get to see her other book (Jellicoe) be made into a movie. Maybe Finnikin will be made later. Fingers crossed.

Same thing with A Great and Terrible Beauty and Uglies which were both optioned like ten years ago and nothing has happened. *sigh* I heard rumors of an Uglies TV show somewhat recently, but that may have been a lie. A Chaos Walking movie has also been in "development limbo" for a couple years. I think Cinder, too? Agggh!

message 428: by [deleted user] (new)

Brigid *Flying Kick-a-pow!* wrote: "Same thing with A Great and Terrible Beauty and Uglies which were both optioned like ten years ago and nothing has happened. *sigh* I heard rumors of an Uglies TV show some..."

Well Cinder "just" came out so I understand that, but a great and terrible and uglies have been out fir a while like the books I mentioned. I get that Things take time but when they have been optioned for 5 years or more then its time for Hollywood to start getting Things done.!

message 429: by Brigid (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
That's true, Cinder has only been out for like four or five years, and TKoNLG for just a little longer than that (and I think it was only optioned in the past like three years or so, don't remember when). But yeah things like AGATB and Uglies which came out like a decade ago, I wish someone would get rolling on adaptations of those. :P

message 430: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
Maybe if A Monster Calls does well TKONLG will be made!

*b*l*u*e*m*o*o*n* | 986 comments Mod
I wouldn't mind seeing Cinder become a movie.

I feel TKONLG will be too slow for them to make a great movie into it. They will have to change somethings in the beginning and I don't think fans will like that much!

ODA: Heidi is right! You have great movie insider news! hahahaha...^_^

message 432: by Brigid (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Same, I think Cinder could be really cool as a movie. :)

Huh, really? I consider TKoNLG pretty action-packed. I mean it's a pretty long book, so of course there would be things they'd have to take out ... but I think there's enough action-y material that it'd keep people interested. :D

message 433: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I agree with you Brigid. I could totally see TKONLG as a movie. (sorry Bluemoon!)

message 434: by *b*l*u*e*m*o*o*n* (new)

*b*l*u*e*m*o*o*n* | 986 comments Mod
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of interesting things going on with TKONLG, but the first few chapters were pretty quiet, but important to the story. I feel that writers will change the first part to make it more movie material.

Maybe if they make it into a TV Show, now that will be cool. It's long enough to be a good show.

message 435: by Brigid (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
I see what you mean; I remember it taking a few chapters for me to get really hooked. Ahhh if it were a TV show that would be amazing! :)

Hahaha Oda. You crack me up. As someone who was not a fan of Divergent I wish there were better books getting the attention but then again I kind of like that they are less well known so I have them to myself.

message 442: by Brigid (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
Yeah I feel like they're just cranking out the Divergent movies to ride on the coattails of Hunger Games ... meanwhile there are much more worthy books that have been waiting years to be adapted into movies. But I know what you mean Heidi––part of me is happy that some of my favorite books aren't getting too much attention (because then there are less people criticizing them, hahaha).

hahahaha...I second that Heidi! I wasn't a fan of either books or movie.

message 446: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 123 comments Haha yeah since I watched the movie I had no plans to read it. I didn't love the movie by any means but I like all the actors in it.

message 447: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 440 comments I loved Divergent personally. It had less to do with how great the story or writing is and more to do with the anti-extremist theme of the story(or at least, the theme I interpreted) which just hit home to the beliefs I hold in life. Also, (view spoiler).

As far as the movie goes, it wasn't outright amazing, but I liked it. My love for Shailene Woodley and giant crush on Zoe Kravitz could play some tiny part in that haha.

message 448: by [deleted user] (new)

When tv shows you love, or just enjoy get cancelled or ends. Yes you know everything must come to an end,but its still very very sad.
( Downton Abbey am looking at you.)

message 449: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I hate that too Oda and it makes me reluctant to try new shows. The only new show I have added this year is the Flash. I gave up on Downtown Abby after season 4 but feel bad for those who still love it.
