Thanks, Faith! **Lisa Kay takes a sip** Hmmm... Early in the day to be partaking... but it is 12 noon somewhere, right? LOL!

I've created a thread in our sister group, strictly for Read-a-thon chatter! Please use THAT THREAD for all suggestions for themes, mini challenges to enter into the 'contest', your goals, etc! REMEMBER: Participation in the RaT is voluntary, AND regardless of how many participate, the team STILL earns points!

Mary: HDLS, I'm waiting to see if a "heavy hitter" checks in today. If not, then I'll put her on our Team and assigned them to replace her.

Also still don't know what to award as a "prize" for "winning" the mini-challenges. Should we skip worrying about points altogether? Or maybe the "winner" could get to choose a genre for the next month that's worth bonus points? Or choose the main subject of the encouraging pics we post? Any thoughts?

Oh, Mary, I wish you could get a kitten, too. They're so sweet and funny! We rescued one almost a year ago and boy does he keep us amused.
Mary, in regards to the challenge question -- I think challenges that don't reward points or put pressure on people are the best but that's just my opinion. It's hard to say right now, with the RaT looming ahead. And that's fine about putting off the holiday related May stuff!

I also chipped away at three paperbacks... nothing grabbed me. Sorry. But I'll catch up.

I started a book at work yesterday, got 25 pages read. Tried to read in bed but managed two pages before sleep took me over.
Today, I read a few pages but then went to do some family stuff. After that, I sat on couch to read but couldn't even keep my eyes open for some reason, so I put the book down (never too far out of reach, lol) and ended up sleeping for SIX HOURS!!!! WHAT?!? I did not plan that! Nobody came to wake me up, they just said, "oh gee, she's been asleep for awhile", lol.
So, I wake up, eat dinner, then come here to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ to check on things, mess around with ideas for the RaT theme and this and that, spend time with son, watch a little bit of TV, come back here to plot my reading plan for the RaT, update spreadsheet, fiddle around online doing other stuff. Now... 1:00 AM and I still have yet to crack open the book since the nap! Looks like I need to crack the whip at myself, LOL!
Goodnight, everyone. :)

to all the spies and snitches
How would you feel about occasionally having a compeition between the other teams?
1# What if we had a competition, where 1 captain from each of the teams who decide to participate, face off and see who can read the most amount of books or pages within a certain time frame?
2# Two teams compete against each other to see who can read the most amount of books within a certain time frame?
3# Both teams have the same mini-challenge, and we see which team could read the most books for it?
This wouldn't be nasty or competitive. There PROBABLY would be smack talk - you know how people are ;), but the purose of it would be for fun, and to try and boost your team's ranking.

I thought there was talk about having other team Captain's read against us as the mod's team?

I was thinking of doing one where everyone sends the person who they think will read the most that week up. All of them against all of us.

So here's the bottom line: we are in last place and behind the next to last team by 12 books.

*cracks whip*"
Am I showing my age if I think that one's yummmy?? :)

You posted that just to rub it in, right? LOL

*gulp* Oops. To be honest, I was more focused on his upper body and didn't even register the "uniform" falling down, heh. I like strong arms!

LOL! It's true so I will. :p
@ Jex - I am trying to post things for the group as a whole to enjoy so I just look for yummy guys in uniform and hope they appeal to at least one person, hehe. I don't know everyone's taste here so I figure if I make one person happy, that's good. (Sonia seems easy to please, haha)
I like the Harrison Ford pic a lot, too. I liked him as Han Solo, as well. Love that sarcastic sense of humor.
Nerdy guys are hot, too! I tried to find cute guys reading books and at the time, didn't find much that appealed to me other than Jensen Ackles lying down reading, but I'm on the prowl for more. And they'll be less risque!
