Rose (LittleBookOwl) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @Harlee @Brigid @Elora, Ronan is totally bae. Omg I love him! For some reason, I'm strongly starting to dislike Adam but I'm not quite finished with The Dream Thieves so we shall see.

That's pretty much how I felt about it too. I didn't have huge expectations going in, so I think that helped a lot, too.

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments @Rose - Adam is pretty terrible in The Dream Thieves, honestly. I feel like he kinda redeems himself in books 3 and 4, though. He's still my least favorite of the boys, but I liked him in the end. :)

@Storm - Wow!!! I'm glad you loved it so much. :D I seriously need to read it again. My memory of it is really foggy.

I finished Passenger (Passenger, #1) by Alexandra Bracken and overall, I liked it. I LOVED the premise, the concept, the historical settings, and the characters. I DIDN'T love the romance. I just didn't get it. I just decided to ignore that part of it, mostly, to enjoy the read.

I'm still working on The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi This one is taking me a while to get through.

In ebook I'm reading Torn Sky (Rebel Wing, #3) by Tracy Banghart and in hardback I'm going to start The Rule of Mirrors (The Vault of Dreamers, #2) by Caragh M. O'Brien

Yay! And yes, that's a good way to put it. I was sad to see the series end, but also I felt kind of ... elated when I finished it. Such a wonderful book. :D

I also bought the ebook because I was too impatient to wait for my physical copy, haha. But I finally got my copy yesterday! I'm thinking about reading it again, even though I only finished it a week ago. :P

Fair question :) The main character seemed so contrived and unrealistic, I just found myself not liking her. And then when she ended up in that kingdom and met a prince and was on the training grounds, I was like "here we go again." There wasn't anything unique happening and I didn't like the MC, so I stopped. I'm really picky though when it comes to high fantasy, and lately much of the YA high fantasy I've been reading has been so underwhelming with lack of world building and boring cliche characters. It's hard to live up to the bar set by Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones!

Caitlin (caitlinsiem) | 409 comments @Brigid - I definitely loved TRK. Maggie is such an amazing author. I had read somewhere that she wrote TRK once and then completely rewrote it because it wasn't how she wanted it for herself (trying to please others kind of thing). So this version is something she wrote for herself first and I think that makes me even closer to the piece.

I'm already trying to figure out when I can reread the entire series because I'm absolutely in love with it. Easily one of my top favorites.

message 426: by Brigid (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Wow, that's some dedication! I admire her a lot for doing that. :)

Same here. It's easily in my top 10 favorite series of all time, possibly even top 5 ... I'd have to think about it, haha. But dang. It's just so incredible and unlike anything I've ever read.

I heard so many bad things about this one that I never thought I'd pick it up but I'm glad I did! I'm really enjoying it and you're right definitely similar to Laini Taylor.

I finished Torn Sky (Rebel Wing, #3) by Tracy Banghart and really liked it! A wonderful conclusion to the trilogy! I read almost the whole way through in one sitting! One thing this series does really well is give us great connection to characters. And then crushes us just when we aren't expecting it! The twist was very well done in this one, I did not see it coming at all!

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Finished:

A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic, #2) by V.E. Schwab

This one was a little slow-going for me compared to the first book. I still liked it, just not quite as much. I felt like too much of it was build-up, and it ended just as it was starting to get really intense. :P I'll read the third book when it comes out though, because I really want to know what happens!

And next I am reading:

The Hidden Oracle (The Trials of Apollo, #1) by Rick Riordan

I'm really excited for it, so I hope it's good!

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I finnished reading Ixeos, and then read the second book in the trilogy, Rebellion. Now I'm reading the third book in the trilogy, Darian's War.

I picked up a copy of The Raven Boys for my Kindle yesterday. Trying to decide whether to start it as soon as possible (once I've finnished the Ixeos trilogy, and the two books I promised to read and review) or wait until the end of the month when I can buy the other three books, and then read the whole series one after another.

Irene (raenne) I'm listening to Armada, which is so funny! And I'm reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children which, unfortunately, I'm not enjoying so far :/ Almost a quarter through.

message 435: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie About halfway through TRK right now and glad I'm taking my time with it (although part of me hates it because I'm 2 books behind on my challenge so it's all FINISH FINISH FINISH).

Also fascinated with Dead Wake The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson , probably finishing that up today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to starting Atonement by Ian McEwan shortly.

I don't read much Sci Fi (even though I watch a lot of it), so I'm not sure if this genre is written in this format or if this was unique to the story.
But I loved it. It wasn't so much a book as it was an experience. If you haven't read it, it's reading through a dossier of an attack in space. I loved reading interviews and having to turn the book upside down at one point to read a page....so immersive. And just a WEE bit creepy. Can't wait for the sequel!

I've not been reading anything these past couple of days. I read a couple of pages and crash. Dang work keeps interrupting my reading time! ;)

I did start an ARC of CLONES The Anthology by Daniel Arthur Smith . Our Rysa Walker has a Kiernan story in it which I can't wait to read!

I should have time to get back into The Raven King (The Raven Cycle, #4) by Maggie Stiefvater this weekend. I put it down until I could devote several hours to it. I don't want ANY interruptions when I read it! ;)
