Hi Ashleigh, we were a bit surprised by the tie, so it took a couple of days to figure out what to do. A poll will go up today to decide between the two books, so I am afraid that you'll have to wait a bit longer to know which book is going to be read in July.

message 156: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 3774 comments In message #151, which I wrote back on May 20, I told you mods about how the Give Us a Clue yearly challenge had stagnated for nearly three months. Ilona was going to check in with Rachael to see if she needed help.

It's now been almost six months since that challenge was updated. Rachael's last post there was on Feb. 28. She appears to still be active in this group, even posting her own updates in a challenge that I'm leading. I'm hopeful this means she is healthy.

My offer to help still stands, though six months of backlogged updates, goal changes, and unanswered questions would take a significant amount of time to get through, I'm sure. It is/was such a fun challenge idea, but it's so disheartening to see people's updates, requests and questions ignored. Please help.

Hi TerryJane, thank you for the alert, and my apologies for the lack of updates on this challenge. I am going through everything now and will post everyone's progress asap.

Thanks so much, Ilona. I didn't mean to be a nag; nor did I intend to push you into the leader role. I just wanted the challenge to be revived somehow. Thanks again. ✌

message 160: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 3774 comments Hi, Mods! I just finished up leading August's "Soulmates - Opposites Attract" challenge. We had fun and finished at 103% of books read/books pledged. Woohoo! 😊

A few participants asked about doing this challenge again in the future, or in a longer format like a quarterly or yearly challenge so they'd have more time to find pairs. I know we usually have a poll later in the year to vote for a favorite yearly challenge to bring back, but I don't recall anything for bringing back a favorite monthly challange, much less bringing one back for a longer time frame.

"I thoroughly enjoyed this one and do hope we revisit it someday. Thank you very much for hosting, TerryJane!"

"Thanks for the challenge TerryJane! I’d love to do something similar again in the future, maybe in a quarterly or yearly, to have more a bit time to find suitable pairs."

"Thanks for this challenge TerryJane. I enjoyed it and would like to do it again sometime :)"

"I think this is one of the most fun challenges we've done. We should definitely do it again sometime. It was a great success. Kudos, TerryJane!"

I just thought I'd mention it, in case you guys might take these member requests into consideration when planning for 2022. Maybe we could poll for another favorite to bring back, in addition to the yearly one.

Thanks for selecting my idea. It was fun to read and to lead. 😃

message 161: by Mie (new)

Mie | 2148 comments Good point, TerryJane.
I have a couple of times if not dismissed a challenge then at least chosen another one, because I didn’t feel like I had enough time for it.

The august Soulmates I didn’t even research for for the same reason. The books for the quarterly challenge I had already picked a month earlier, so finding pairs and trying to fit them into my August schedule didn’t work, I’m sorry to say

Maybe I will get a second chance, though, eh?
I like the idea of expanding popular monthlies to longer stretching challenges.

Terry Jane, Mie, that is a very good suggestion. Thank you! We will start planning soon behind the scenes and I'll make sure to have a look at using succesful monthly and quarterly challenges as new yearlies.

Hi Ekhomagbe, we do not allow authors promoting their book without permission. I have removed your post.

I am sorry, Aarja, but we don't have that folder in this group as we keep book promotions to a minimum and always delete them if posted without permission.

Congratulations, Julietta!
if you would post a link to your thread here, I or another mod (depending on when you link your thread) would be happy to move it for you to the 26-50 folder.

Edited to add: I found your thread by checking your profile page and move d it as you requested.
in the future, though, providing your link is the best practice. 😊

oshizu | 5762 comments Julietta wrote: "Thank you so much! If it happens again, I'll have to figure out how to post a link lol!"

My bad, Julietta, for assuming that everyone knows how to do that.
Here are the quick steps;
1. Open two browser tabs, one for the post you're copying and one for where you want to paste it.
2. On the original post, right-click on the date/time stamp on the top right corner.
3. You'll see a number of options, including 'Copy link address' (the wording may vary with your browser). Click that.
4. in your second browser tab, position your cursor where you want to paste the link. (If you're trying to edit an existing post, click 'edit'in the lower left corner of your post)
5. When you're done writing your post, click Post.
If you were editing a post, click Edit Post when you're done.

Hi, Julia! The Advent Challenge is one of the December monthly challenges in the 2021 Monthly Challenges folder. There are two others as well. All three will open later this week.

And, yes, this is definitely the right place to seek help. 😊

Hi Julietta, are you referring to your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ shelves? They are connected to your profile and will not change at the end of the year. Only the personal challenge thread and the members' corner in this group will be archived, unless you'd like us to move them over. In that case, can you post a link to the topic you'd like to keep?

No, it's still there, and I'm leading it. 😊

You are only seeing five of the topics in the 2022 Yearly Challenges folder. To expand any discussion folder, you can click the triangle on the left of the folder name, or click on the folder name itself, or click on the right where it says Showing x of y topics.

In this case, you can click this link to see all the open 2022 Yearly Challenges.

Oh, so we are only keeping track of our own. I get it. I thought, like challenges, there would be a "tally thread" for the year's challenge. Sorry my misunderstanding. This is my first time actually doing anything in the GoodReads community even though I've been on GoodReads for years. Just learning the lay of the land.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!
