Me!
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark. I loved the movie, don't think I have ever read the book.
Angelique; The Marquise of the Angels by Sergeanne (or Anne) Golon My memory is that as a teen I loved the first 3 or 4 of these books, then went off them. This is the first book.
The Tamarind Seed by Evelyn Anthony. I've loved both of the books by Ms Anthony that I have already read & this is her best known title.
Five for Sorrow Ten for Joy by Rumer Godden
Georgina by Clare Darcy. Supposed to be the best of Georgette Heyer's imitators.

You have done it right except that The Magpie Murders was first published in 2016. Could you choose another book? :)

That's no problem, Barb. You are allowed to change your selections up to the 31st of December. (so I would advise members to not get too attached to other people's choices!)

That's fine! Angelique (one of my selections) is a reread for me - although it will be over 40 years since I last read it.
I'll just sort out the other entries now. :)

Hi Tania
The House of Dolls wasn't published until 1989. Would you mind choosing another book? Our time period this year has been extended - but only 1900-1980. The consensus of the group was most members wanted to leave the finishing period at 1980. :)

Oh, nice! Thanks, have been contemplating a reread of this one…🤔

Ooooh, thanks for this new-to-me title, Abigail, love Goudge’s writing, and historical fiction! ;)

Yes, it really is, I’m already making a tottering TBR pile from the pool!

Yes, there are so many interesting ones already entered. Lots of possibilities!

Good plan, my dear! You are a wise woman- but I’m adding books I want to read, even if the original member changes their mind. Will I get to all of these books? Hardly - as with this year’s pool, I probably only got to a quarter of the books I WANTED to read, but I just keep adding to the pile…📚📚

Terrific! I loved The Dean's Watch, wanted to read more of her books.

1). Cosmos by Carl Sagan, 1980
2). Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, 1977
3) Love is Eternal by Irving Stone, 1954
4). I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith, 1948
5). Sword at Sunset by Rosemary Sutcliff, 1963
Moved from another thread
Elinor:"I'm embarrassed to say that I have only finished three books from last year's Book Pool, but I would like to give it another whirl in 2023. And once again, there are so many good choices on the list already that I will add only two books -- Rilla of Ingleside which is the last of the Anne of Green Gables books, and The Building Of Jalna by Mazo de la Roche, which is the first of the 16-book Jalna series."

1 The Book Pool will run from the 1st of January till the 30th Of November 2023. Books started before the 1st of January or finished after the 30th of November will not be counted.
2 Members who want to select books, please do so by the 31st of December - PST.
3 Everyone taking part will be given a number - for example I will be #1.
4 Anyone else can still join in after the 1st of January, but can't add books. There is no obligation to read all the books - or any of the books. This isn't just a fiction book pool - Non fiction, later books in a series, YA & books for older children are all fine!
5 First publication date should be 1900-1980. (note the new starting year)
6 Everyone selects up to 5 books. If someone has already selected one of your choices, please don't select it again.
7 No Georgette Heyer (I moderate a group for her books) /group/show/.
8 If you join this group or decide you want to join the Book Pool after the 31st of December, that will be great, but you can't add books to the book pool.
9 If anyone wants to change their chosen books that is fine, as long as they are changed before the 31st of Dec 2022
10 To liven things up, Cindy SR will be running some extra challenges, using these books. But if you just want to the challenge the 2022 way, that will be fine as well.
If you are uncertain of anything just check the previous challenge /topic/show/... or ask! :)
Looking forward to some inspiring ideas!
