Monthly Challenge: May 2023

Welcome to our first monthly Listopia Madness challenge. It is a relatively simple challenge. Every month you will get 3 listopia lists from me and 3 from the winners of the previous month. *Please note that if you do not respond in a reasonable amount of time that the 4th place person (and so on) will replace you until we get 3 lists.

How it works
📘You will read as many books as you want from as many of the lists provided as you want.
📘You will score each book using the point system provided below
📘You will keep a running tally of your total in your post (try to keep your books in one comment, if possible for easy tracking)
📘I will contact the 3 highest-scoring readers at the end of the month and they will each choose one listopia list to be included in the next month's challenge.

Challenge rules:
📘No graphic novels, poetry or cookbooks allowed.
📘Standard Rules Apply

I wish. If you discover a way, I would love to know it.

Christine, I asked your question over in the moderator support group. Here are the suggestions that I got so far.

1. You could search for word on page and then run for each page time-consuming but not so much as manually looking

2. Open the book's page and look for the Listopia list you want there

#2 is probably the quickest and easiest method. Go to the bottom of the book page. Look for "Lists featuring this book" Underneath the books, there is a link "All Lists featuring this book" - click on this. You can see every list that the book is on. As far as I can see, most books have 1-2, maybe 3 pages instead of the many pages a listopia list can have.

Thanks for that info. I didn't know about that second option! At first I thought you meant the Genre list. Ilike the option you mentioned might be way easier. I'm going to try that now. Thank you!

I use #2 as my main search!

Some notes: It helps if you have voted for a book on the list, since a little green check mark will show up next to the list names. Also, make sure you try the books "default" page, as that usually has more list adds, rather than a different edition (this isn't ALWAYS true, since some of the lists have to do with covers)

Yes, Listopia are edition specific. That means one edition may be on the list and another may not.

Truitt_T | 1371 comments I have a somewhat belated question:

Listopias are, as discussed, edition specific. But we do not have to read that specific edition, correct?

And I've been using the page count for the edition I'm reading - sometimes kindle, sometimes a print copy. Is that correct?

Thanks!

ETA: The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking page count for edition read must be correct. After all, the editions on two different Listopias might not be the same....

You do not have to read the edition on the list. Use the page count for the edition you are reading.

I am so glad that you like it. A little secret... the Easter Egg challenge was started to bring attention to little-known challenges. I never expected people to like it as much as they did. I had to bring it back this year. Wait until next year. I have a really unique twist in mind. I can't wait until you guys see what I have in store for you!
