Hello and welcome!
Hello and welcome!

I'm actually not a YA fiction fan ;_; The only YA book I ever read, and enjoyed was Twilight, so I've been trying to read other YA, but I can't get over my prejudices every time I walk by the Teen lit section at my local library. That's why I joined, I hope to get some recommendations. And its kind of great that it'll be a monthly reading thing (so I'll be reading with others).

Welcome Monya! YA Fiction=Awesomsauciness. The Twilight books barely dripped into the delicious chocolate fountain that is YA.

Ugh! Twilight is not my idea of good YA lit. Try anything by Melina Marchetta. She is my favorite YA author.

A lot of people say Twilight wasn't very good, but they still like the movies which I thought looked more cheesy than nacho chips on steriods. I'll check out Ms.Marchette's books, and what's your favorite by her? Thank you for all of the "Welcomes"!! n_n

My favorite is
but if you read it BE WARNED it is confusing as heck for like 200 pages. If you want to start with something easier to understand I would go with
or
. If you like fantasy books I would go for

Melina pusher???? Hmm, my name is melina! Hahaha

I pretty much never read "grown up books" because I prefer teen (and sometimes younger) literature. I read a little bit of everything, but my favorite genres are realistic fiction and fantasy, with the occasional historical fiction and non-fiction book. Within fantasy I especially like fairy-tale and mythology retellings. Oh, and I love food fiction, which I usually say has to include recipes to count, but books where food and cooking plays a big role works for me, too.
I'm currently reading "Cloaked" by Alex Finn. Recently read favorites have included "Hex Hall" "Demonglass" "Ten Miles Past Normal" "Close to Famous" and "Five Flavors of Dumb."
It would take me way too long to list all-time favorites, but I saw in a recent comment that someone posted Jellicoe Road, which would totally be on my list!
I'm not totally technology minded, so can someone tell me how you all are getting book cover pictures to appear in your posts? That's cool.
I'd be interested to know how your monthly read works. Is there voting? Nominating? How far ahead do you choose your titles?
I'm excited to be joining you!
