It's not bad. Vic just didn't do something and his lack of action pissed me off royally!

But that didn't stop me from reading The Stroke of Midnight (PsyCop, #3.1) by Jordan Castillo Price & Secrets (PsyCop, #4) by Jordan Castillo Price , downloading & starting to read Camp Hell (PsyCop, #5) by Jordan Castillo Price .

I have no self-control.

Thanks Kerstin! I'll read it once I'm done with my Psycop addiction.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Has anyone read Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant and enjoyed it? It's currently on offer for under £3 @Kindle UK and I can't decide whether to buy it or not.

message 754: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Mar 25, 2011 06:40PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32520 comments Ames, it's so great when you can get your hands on so many books in a series and gobble them up. :) Glad you're enjoying them.

I haven't read Grant's series. Maybe someone else has though.

I have the Kindle store to thank for that. Instant gratification. A blessing and a curse.

Steph (angel4492) | 32520 comments LOL! Absolutely!

Sandra | 25822 comments I've started Host (Rogue Mage, #3) by Faith Hunter and it seems good so far.

message 758: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32520 comments Another series I have, but haven't started ... ugh. :\ LOL!

I started listening to Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon earlier today. Love the narrator(s). It's about a million pages long, so I'm sure the audiobook will take me a few months to get through. J/K Laura! :D I actually have it playing on VLC's "faster" rate, so hopefully it won't take me quite that long.

So far, it's definitely not something I'd have chosen myself. But, I trust all the recs I've rec'd.

message 761: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Steph, I love the Outlander series, I love it. I tried to listen to the audio and I couldn't stand the narrator -- I know some people really think she is fabulous. But I didn't care for her (and I bought 3 of the audio books!). Also, the first 100 pages are slow or so while everything is set up. But anyway, I know that such a long book is a huge commitment but I guess I am saying if you don't like the narrator (like me) -- then it might not be the book. Good luck -- I hope you LOVE it.

message 762: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Well I just finished Another One Bites the Dust (Jaz Parks, #2) by Jennifer Rardin , which I enjoyed. 3 stars.

I finished Breaking the Rules (Troubleshooters, #16) by Suzanne Brockmann by audio -- and it was amazing -- 5 stars.

A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr -- I am currently reading these two books. They are both huge -- over 20k locations each on the kindle.

I am trying to decide which to listen to in audio next -- any ideas?

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) by Karen Chance The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters

message 763: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments Regina, I don't know about the audio but Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) by Karen Chance is a mighty fine book. Haven't read the others.

message 764: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thank you Sandra -- Phili Free, only had it in audio than rather than ebook, I am thinking if I am really liking it. I will just buy the ebook and stop listening. :) Okay Dori it is.

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments I've been reading erotic romance, paranormal romance, paranormal YA & urban fantasy novels back-to-back this month & frankly, I'm worn out. So now I'm starting one of my favorite-but lesser known-genres, historical fiction, with
Falls the Shadow (Welsh Princes, #2) by Sharon Kay Penman .

message 768: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32520 comments Enjoy, Lethal!

message 769: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #1) by Jonathan Stroud . Cracking good fun, looking forward to the next book. Have run out of books! Horrors. Awaiting shipment of next batch. What to do in the meantime?

message 770: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments A hell of a lot happened in Camp Hell (PsyCop, #5) by Jordan Castillo Price , it was twice as long as the rest of the books. I love a good conspiracy! And the ending, unbelievably sweet (and funny). I now really understand why Vic is as screwed up as he is.

I'm probably going to read GhosTV (PsyCop, #6) by Jordan Castillo Price next. I've all ready downloaded it and checked out it's length -longer than Camp Hell.

message 771: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am enjoying watching you g through these books. I can't wait to have more time to read them.

Moss, this looks interesting, I don't know this one. And I can't believe you've run out of books, that's just not possible. Have you just run out of books you want to read right now?

It's a childrens' book, sorry I don't think I mentioned that. It was great, and a nice change from all the throbbing members/weeping pussies. (incidentally, Lora Leigh is atrocious for these. I told hubby after I found the fifth WP in a row, and he was concerned she might be getting dehydrated).

Yes have run out Sandra, that will totally teach me for reading through the night and not spacing them out so I get longer out of them. Book depository shipping takes forevvvver to get to the bottom of the world too. Boo!

message 775: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol!!

And this is tragic Moss! If you really have run out of books and desperate to read, someone on here (Amy I think) recommended reading 'The Mating' by Nicky Charles, which is a free download.

message 776: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments Moss wrote: 'Book depository shipping takes forevvvver to get to the bottom of the world too. Boo! '

I've had books delivered in 5 days and some delivered in a month. So I never put a book in a challenge unless it's in my hot little hand. Still you can't beat the prices. LOL.

As to the running out of books, like Josie said above, Nicky Charles has a werewolf inspired ebook for free download - The Mating by Nicky Charles its over 200 pages so should help you keep going. You don't need an ereader, you can read it on your computer.

Same! Somehow it's always the ones I'm dying to read that take the month too.

Thanks guys, will check out that book. Have read a review that says it's like the BDB but with wolves, heh. Sounds fun.

(Josie, have been umming and ahhing about Forbidden. Will be interested to hear what you think).

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Josie wrote: "I'm about to start Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma. I'm scared."

Just keep an open mind and have tissues handy. Remember to breathe through the tough parts and pick up multiple PNRs/HEAs afterwards to help dull the pain. That's my advice.

message 780: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Oh my word. Just finished it. I cannot believe that happened.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Josie wrote: "Oh my word. Just finished it. I cannot believe that happened."

What did you think?

message 782: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I don't know. I'm not sure whether to rate it 1star or 5stars. I cried. Actually I'm still crying.
(view spoiler) What did you think Ames?

message 783: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I thought it was heartbreaking and very painful to read the ending especially when (view spoiler) I loved the way it was written, so realistic but like you said there are still questions. Okay, I have to go to bed now. Only got 5 hours to sleep.

message 784: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol, feeling emotionally drained so will go to sleep also (although 5 hours? whew, will not be getting up that early fortunately). I'll probably have more to say about this book tomorrow. Usually I like to go through a book after I've finished to briefly re-read my fav parts but with this one, I do not want to set myself off again...

message 785: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments I'm sorry, I'm just a wuss and I won't be reading it.

I am however still reading Host (Rogue Mage, #3) by Faith Hunter about 2/3 way and I like it but it is slow going. Not sure why.

message 786: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I'm probably gonna pass on that, too...just a little too disturbing...

message 787: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32520 comments LMAO @ Moss' hubby! "I told hubby after I found the fifth WP in a row, and he was concerned she might be getting dehydrated" Too funny!

Glad everyone's enjoying there reads. Looks like a great run, Ames. Can't wait to start that series. Even more so after seeing how much you're enjoying it.

Finished Immortal Beloved (Immortal Beloved, #1) by Cate Tiernan today and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think adults will enjoy it more than YA. Slow build to much throughout, but anxious for #2 later this year.

No idea what's next on the block. Have to catch up on Bingo stuff and emails, then I'll pick something for my EOM (end-of-month) read. Or maybe just finish reading Kitty Takes a Holiday (Kitty Norville, #3) by Carrie Vaughn , which I paused to read my YA book for Bingo.

message 788: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments I am listening to Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer and reading Fade (Dream Catcher, #2) by Lisa McMann .

message 789: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Can't wait to hear what you think of Nightshade...just on the cover alone, I've been wanting to pick it up.

I'm reading Briar Rose by Jane Yolen ...not paranormal, and not what I expected at first. However, the story is very strong and poignant. It just keeps pulling you in, especially knowing she's retelling the story as a metaphor to deal with a truly horrible, actual event.

message 790: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am putting the audio version of Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) by Karen Chance the narration is so bad or maybe the narrator is just not for me. For audio I am moving on to Burnt Offerings (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #7) by Laurell K. Hamilton , LKH doesn't disappoint - the gore and horror element started right away.

I am still reading:
A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr Lean on Me (Masters of the Shadowlands, #4) by Cherise Sinclair

I must be in a slump bc I am just not pushing through the books like usual.

message 791: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25822 comments Funny you should say that, I've had problems reading the last two weeks as well. Just can't seem to get motivated. I would normally be up to book #37/38 but I'm only on #29. That's a huge drop for me.

message 792: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Sandra do you know why? I am wondering if I need a genre change? Some audio books I listened to really captivated me and I couldn't stop thinking about them (Breaking the Rules by Brockmann, Troubleshooters #16). I wonder if I have been jumping around between series too much and I should just read a series straight through instead. I feel like I am trying to accomplish too much by reading too many different things. Or maybe I am just in a slump. :)

message 795: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Wan that was my first steamp punk as well.

Steph, how is the audio on double speed working? :)

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I have 4 books going at once. I feel a little overwhelmed.

Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke in audio from the library. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) by J.K. Rowling in paperback. Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer in hardcover (though on the back burner because I can't seem to get into it.) and Shadow Souls (The Vampire Diaries The Return, #2) by L.J. Smith in library ebook but it expired so I have to borrow again or wait until I buy it to finish it. I also borrowed The Secret Hour (Midnighters, #1) by Scott Westerfeld but haven't even started it yet.

message 797: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments LOL that is alot. I do that too. :)

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments Regina wrote: "LOL that is alot. I do that too. :)"

Glad I am not the only one. I need to finish at least 2 of them. Then it won't be so bad. I guess HP and Dragon Rider will be the first 2. I am not sure because Midnighters #1 is a library ebook and it is going to expire soon!

message 799: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I hate that. Did you know though, that if you do the following things your ebook won't dissappear: 1) do not close the book and read another ebook on your ereader -- and do not go back to the home page, just keep the book open; 2) do not turn you ereader all the way off (so keep it fully charged!); and 3) do not have it connected to the interent. If you do that -- your book won't dissapear, or that has been my experience. :)

I've found if I have an ebook on my Ipod it doesn't expire. So I have the soothing sound of David Attenborough talking about spiders on my Ipod for life. Win!

Bood depository came through yesterday. Finished Visions of Magic An Awakening Novel by Regan Hastings . A bit meh. Starting Song of Scarabaeus (Scarabaeus, #1) by Sara Creasy . Lolcover (has she woken up grumpy from a nap? I do that a lot) and I like his cocked eyebrow.
