Fran | 12213 comments Hi Kat!

Do you want to read Seeing Double together? It's pretty short, we could just PM each other about it if you want. Let me know, no rush, we can read it next week, later, any time :)

Sure! I should be able to read it whenever you want, it's being short helps to fit it in whenever you want! =)

How are all of the events going? Funny story, on Monday I went to babysit so my oldest and his wife could go out for their anniversary - although I only got to play with the three year old, the three month old went with them. But, my youngest son was there picking something up and he was wished "Happy 7th Anniversary of your prom" - yep, what were the odds that the prom fell on the same day as his brother's wedding? And yes he was a groomsman! He managed to make it work, his date came to the wedding and they stayed through dinner and the toasts, but then went off to the prom and though he didn't get to pick his tux he didn't have to pay for it either!

Fran | 12213 comments That's a great story Kat! I love the your younger one got to do both- and has great memories of a double-special night :)

Last night my graduating senior won two academic achievement awards from school- so proud! This Friday night is the Prom (and Prom weekend )-let you know how that goes. Tonight is a Sports Banquet for senior's playing a spring sport. So busy, but lots of fun :)

I'm glad you liked it. I recently read the second in the series and was a bit disappointed by the ending, but have high hopes for the third.

Sorry, I just saw your message. I'm glad taht you liked French Fried. I've already read Noah's compass; if you read it I'd be very interested in what you think. It's a thought-provoking book.

Carla (carlacollette) | 347 comments Hattie--
I just finished reading Provocative in Pearls (The Rarest Blooms #2) by Madeline Hunter and really liked it! The author is a new one for me, and I was really pleased with the clever dialogue and winsome characters. She reminded me a bit of Jane Austen (albeit alot steamier). Thanks for the great recommendation; I've ordered the first in the series from the library to read soon.

I just started Noah's Compass and I LOVE it. I just want to keep reading it, and will probably read late into the night and either finish it tonight or first thing in the morning. I am about 100 pages into it.

Nancy H | 1097 comments Carla,
I finished Noah's Compass early this morning. Wow!! (SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn't read it!!)
I really liked it up until Liam finds out about Eunice being married --- then I couldn't imagine what would happen, and ultimately I didn't like the ending. I get the 'Noah's Compass' reference, or at least I think I do, but still.... What did you think of it? I must say, though, that it grabbed me from the very beginning, and I read it very fast.

message 474: by Rachel-RN (new)

Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 202 comments Finished Glass Houses. I thought it was average. It is YA and while I've read and enjoyed some YA, I don't read a lot of it.
Still planning on: Destined for an Early Grave, The Darkest Hour, and Extreme Exposure for this month

message 475: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished Wicked Lovely. I liked it. I thought it was pretty good but sometimes flawed so I am giving it 3 stars. I would like to read more in this series.

Pam | 1048 comments Hey Carrie-
I finished Exclusively Yours and loved it! Loved the dialogue and the older characters. Full four stars and adding the next one to my TBR.

I also added two others from your list to my kindle (Sex and the Psychic Witch and Too Hot To Touch) and finally broke down and bought The Perfect Play. Hope to read them all this month--only 10 days left until school is done so I have some serious time to read!

message 477: by Ana (new)

Ana | 72 comments I've finished "Her best friends lover" by S. Walker. It was barely a 3 stars for me. Nice, but not special at all.

I've also finished "Liberating Lacey" by A. Calhoun and I've liked it a lot! A solid 4 stars for me. The beginnig was the best part of the book IMO. Thanks Yz for the reccomendation!

I had mixed feelings (again--SPOILER alert) about how the plot went, but as I thought about it, he really did make choices that I thought were somewhat noble and thoughtful of others. Some might think that he chose not to live, but I think that he saw that he would ultimately be disappointed in Eunice (as he was when he found out she was married) and that she would be in him. He starts working with children and becomes a more active parent for his youngest child (which the older child resents and doesn't forgive him for, but would it be better that he not parent at all?). So I thought that he ultimately made life-affirming choices, but it was sad--I wanted him to have another chance at love. He really seemed to try not to hurt other people, but often failed.

I, like you, loved the way that the story was written, too--for a book about characters, Tyler really made me want to know what happened next.

Maybe I didn't get it either, but what I thought it was referring to was the part where there was discussion by the little boy about Noah, and how one of them said that Noah didn't need a compass -- which I took to mean that Noah just tried to do what was right and trusted in himself to make what were the right decisions for him ---- the same thing that I think Liam tried to do in this story. I interpreted it to mean that Liam was choosing what was right for himself rather than for Eunice or his ex-wife or judgmental daughters.....but maybe I have it wrong, too - that was just my thought about what it meant.

~KarenH~ | 10975 comments I finished my first pick from Rachel-Goodbye Borders - Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night, and I loved it! I actually listened to the audio version, and the narrator was great. The only bad thing is that the next book isn't due out in audio until November. :(

Rachel, if you're interested in doing a buddy read, I'm pretty sure I'll be reading both Promises and Wild Heat a little later in the month, and hopefully a couple of others, too. I'd love to do a buddy read with you if we can make it work!

message 494: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 2244 comments I just finished Shelter In A Soldier's Arms (That Special Woman!) and it was really cute! You're right Fran, the little girl stole the show! I'm going to have to look into some more of those silouette books, I enjoyed that one a lot! This was also my first book that I purchased on the Kindle and I enjoyed that format. Buying books on the Kindle always felt too easy to me, but it was nice being able to read in the dark on my ipad!
