Ok. I see what the author is doing here, and I like it. She's comparing/contrasting Desi and Nick. Desi is and does everything Amy wanted from Nick, but now she's finally seeing that's not such a good thing. Desi is a "careful what you wish for, you might get it."

WTF does that even mean? Like menstrual blood? Or like she just had sex? What is this author even talking about?

Absolutely none of these characters are even slightly believable. And you wonder why Nick didn't leave Amy, since he hated her so much, but all the women who hit on him & even his mistress are obnoxious idiots. This author was determined to never portray any woman favorably.

Gillian Flynn is really being a cunt in her stereotypical characterizations of Midwestern natives.
