Just met Carden and, DON'T KILL ME, I'm slightly disappointed?
It's just that I was expecting a magnetic, intriguing, calculating, cruel Prince, but he seems like a simple old-school bully?
I hope it was only a weak first impression—holding out judgment until I've properly met him. Loving everything else tho 😍

I did not sleep last night.

and a charming adorable coward;
I blame you guys for giving me the wrong expectations so I'd end up disappointed! Now I can love him for his cute self.

I have to admit, I’m probably the only person who doesn’t like Carden and unfortunately that didn't change with the next book either :/

I definitely agree - kicking dirt into her lunch? is that really the best you can come up with? - I do think there is some improvement at the end though, so curious to see what you think!
Hmmm, what I've heard is that the second book is better but hopefully this one isn't too bad.
You’ve got a point, he comes across as extremely petulant at the beginning but his character improves over time!
At first I was kind of dissapointed with him too but he's getting SO much better!
He definitely someone you initially hate but he tends to grow on you as you go on and learn more about him

Hmmm, thanks that's encouraging, I'm gonna continue to read with an open mind. I prefer to enjoy my reads and their characters as much as I can.

His reactions and efforts are funny, and I'm enjoying the ways he's trying to get back at Jude and she roasts him. Honestly, that's all extremely entertaining.
My problem is that he's just like every single other childishly-lashing-out bully in the world. He's not special. He's not intriguing. His character and cruelty is simple. I'm just unimpressed.
And going from hate to love is more likely than going from unimpressed to in love—there's passion in the first, sth I just don't have when it comes to his character 🤷🏻♀�
I'm still hoping he lives up to the hype, because up until now everything else about this book is just PERFECT, so I'm trusting Holly Black to give me the passion I lack atm.

Yeah didn’t like him in book one either lol. I’m on the third book and finally starting to understand the love for him and honestly I feel it too (but I didn’t seem to feel it as fast as others).

Honestly, it's not about the romance as the fanart and people would have you believe. Yes, Carden's there, bullying her at school (literally), and his character is gonna be explored and we'll obviously learn why he became a bully and we'll sympathise but this is less about their relationship and more about Jude wanting to gain power and get into the Court and I'M HERE FOR IT.

Srsly tho, I don't dislike him, I was just expecting someone enigmatic, but he's rather simple. I can see his character clearly and I'm not impressed? I need to be IMPRESSED. That's my key for loving a character. They could be a all-evil villain and I'd love them if they impress me 😁

By the end of the trilogy you'll either love him or be meh about him😆. I love him but I remember not caring one bit for him in the first part of the book.

Before this part 2 I didn't dislike or hate him, I enjoyed his interactions actually. I was only dissatisfied and annoyed to be so. BUT NO LONGER.
