Public Service Announcement

Reports are reaching the desk of Beth Brower that some readers worry Vol. 6 is the end, and that Emma and her compatriots are going to be endlessly floating on a sea of unresolved storylines, plots, and questions. Let said readers be very much assured this is Not So. The journals of Emma M. Lion encompass (approximately) four years of Emma’s life. 1883 was the first year. We have now barreled into 1884. There are many happenings to come. Emma 7 is well on its way.

INQUIRING READERS WISH TO KNOW...

I know. I know. I promised to keep you more informed. Which, I argue, does happen from time to time on Instagram. But here I am, providing answers before one of you becomes violent. (Said with the utmost affection.)

How many Emma Volumes will there be?

When I set out to write The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion, I wanted to give readers a format with a twist. Something fresh. Just a touch different. Also, I wanted Emma to live a large swath of her life with the reader fully taking part. It is...

IN WHICH BETH COMMITS TO KEEPING HER READERS MORE INFORMED...AND POSSIBLY ENTERTAINED.

EMMA M. LION IS AT IT AGAIN

Hello all. It’s January 2021. I’ve not posted in six months. Shameful. I partially blame myself, and I partially blame Emma. Why? Because anyone who spends any time in Emma’s company is bound to get into trouble one way or another.

And so I partially blame Emma. However unfair that may be.

I ha...

July 1, 1883A noise woke me from my dreams this morning. I lay curled beneath my blanket in the dark, eyes closed, in a generaland what would prove temporarysense of well-being. Upon hearing the noise a second time, I batted my eyes open and scrunched the...
