What made you want to become and author?

Hi Regan,
My degree is in Art & Design, so I had a creative career for many years--but I was essentially selling my soul to my clients by the hour. (They paid me well for my soul, but nonetheless, it was depleting).
I found that when I grew restless with my day job, I'd write more and more, just to have a creative sandbox away from everything else. The more I wrote, the more I enjoyed it, the more I wanted to pursue writing.
Now I live in that sandbox :)

Absolutely LOVE all three of your books (just read an ARC of your third book)! I think what I love most of all is that your pride in being Chinese comes through. My husband is an ABC - Cantonese (Taishanese) who grew up in a non-Asian community. So learning about the culture for our daughter is important! Any suggestions for books, authors, or resources to learn more about the culture? Thank you!!

I was really shocked to read in the paper about your experience at Highland Park High School. I can't imagine these kids being allowed to get away with such behavior. This being a super rich area, I can imagine the sense of entitlement with some of these kids is enormous. You've given talks all over the country and I was curious if you feel this sense of entitlement is driving a lot of our politics these days?
