“It's a factâ€everyone is ignorant in some way or another.
Ignorance is our deepest secret.
And it is one of the scariest things out there, because those of us who are most ignorant are also the ones who often don't know it or don't want to admit it.
Here is a quick test:
If you have never changed your mind about some fundamental tenet of your belief, if you have never questioned the basics, and if you have no wish to do so, then you are likely ignorant.
Before it is too late, go out there and find someone who, in your opinion, believes, assumes, or considers certain things very strongly and very differently from you, and just have a basic honest conversation.
It will do both of you good.”
― The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

“Sit down before fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconceived notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abysses nature leads, or you shall learn nothing. I have only begun to learn content and peace of mind since I have resolved at all risks to do this.”

“It's been suggested that if the super-naturalists really had the powers they claim, they'd win the lottery every week. I prefer to point out that they could also win a Nobel Prize for discovering fundamental physical forces hitherto unknown to science. Either way, why are they wasting their talents doing party turns on television?
By all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out.”

“Stupidity is much the same all the world over. A stupid person's notions and feelings may confidently be inferred from those which prevail in the circle by which the person is surrounded. Not so with those whose opinions and feelings are an emanation from their own nature and faculties.”

“At the heart of science is an essential balance between two seemingly contradictory attitudes--an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre or counterintuitive they may be, and the most ruthless skeptical scrutiny of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are winnowed from deep nonsense.”

“The Perfect Way is only difficult for those who pick and choose;
Do not like, do not dislike; all will then be clear.
Make a hairbreadth difference, and Heaven and Earth are set apart;
If you want the truth to stand clear before you, never be for or against.
The struggle between 'for' and 'against' is the mind's worst disease;”

“Being open-minded allows us to discern the wellness of vibrations. It lets us experience the depth of unlimited resonance. If we care for resonant relationships, we must simultaneously be coherent and accessible partners. When we want to interact intensely, it must resound in our minds, and mutual messages resonate through our inner world.”

“Sincerely believe that you might not know the best possible path and recognize that your ability to deal well with “not knowingâ€ is more important than whatever it is you do know. Most people make bad decisions because they are so certain that they’re right that they don’t allow themselves to see the better alternatives that exist. Radically open-minded people know that coming up with the right questions and asking other smart people what they think is as important as having all the answers. They understand that you can’t make a great decision without swimming for a while in a state of “not knowing.â€ That is because what exists within the area of “not knowingâ€ is so much greater and more exciting than anything any one of us knows.”

which really make them hard not to believe in the existence of heaven.”

“I liked making people laugh, and I decided I was an atheist early on. My Dad was all right with that. We argued about it all the time, but it was good-natured. He was the most open-minded human being I've ever known.”

“An open mind can always stand a closed one, if it has to- by making room for it in the general picture [of the world].
But a closed mind cannot stand it near an open one Without risking immediate and complete destruction in it's own terms.
Can I closed mine there's no more room.”

“Anatomy of Conspiracy
(Sonnet 2094-2095)
The biggest conspiracy
in the world is to make people
think that there is a conspiracy,
because when people believe
in conspiracy, they get paranoid,
and a paranoid population is the ideal
consumer for various soothsaying items,
from guns, bombs and nuclear weapons,
to crystals, chemtrails, chakras,
magnets, gemstones, ouija, racial purity,
and plots of land in the afterlife.
Now, some of these items and ideas may be
harmless, others downright villainous,
but they are all part and parcel of
an insecure primate's pursuit for control -
delusional though such control may be.
Conspiracy, superstition, conventional
or newage, it's all about control,
either self-inflicted or institutionalized -
you are searching for order where there
is none, so your brain cooks up one,
just to keep you satisfied - and you
start seeing faces in the clouds,
or patterns in your star charts.
Keep your mind open, just not so open
that your brain starts leaking -
an empty attic is a primate's olympus.”
