“The monster's bride at his door. Magnus could not stop staring. [Jocelyn] was staring too. She seemed transfixed by his pajamas. Magnus was frankly offended. He had not invited any wives of crazed hate-cult leader to come around and pass judgement on his wardrobe.”

“Aaron was wearing a T-shirt that was practically transparent with washing and sweatpants with a hole in the knee. His blond hair stuck up like duck fluff and he looked barely awake. Tamara looked tense. Her hair was carefully braided and she wore pink pajamas that said I FIGHT LIKE A GIRL across the front. Under the words was a screen print of cartoon girls executing deadly ninja moves.”

No! It would feel, honestly, very weird. I would think, Where's my IV? When do I take my next meds?”

Lynne Ewing
“The air inside her room was thick with the scent of eucalyptus and lemon. He materialized near her dresser. His hand automatically turned her alarm clock to face the wall, then brushed across a tray filled with Vicks, cough syrup, aspirin, and a thermometer. He tenderly touched the lemon slices near an empty teacup. Could a simple illness have filled him with so much fear that he had risked coming to see her?
A dim light from a purple Lava lamp cast an amber glow across the bed where Serena lay, the leopard-print sheets twisted in a knot beside her leg. Her long curly hair was half caught in a scrunchy that matched her flannel pajamas. The words Diamonds are a girl's best friend- they're sharper than knives curled around a dozen marching Marilyns in army fatigues on the blue fabric. Stanton had been with her when she bought the Sergeant Marilyn pajamas three months back.”
Lynne Ewing, The Sacrifice

“I love a lounging pajama."
You also love a marabou mule slipper and a satin robe with a train.
"It is elegant."
It is insane.
"It is sophisticated."
Sure, if you're Nora Charles. It isn't 1940.
"Yeah, but look at yourself."
I look in the mirror. The silk and cashmere blend fabric has just the right amount of drape to conceal the lumpier parts of me without clinging, but enough weight to seem more substantial than sleepwear. The color is somewhere halfway between cream and ballerina pink, a color I would never pick, but is a lovely counterpoint to my pale skin and dark hair. All in all, I look fairly adorable for this hour, certainly good enough to warrant a little morning attention.
"Told you so."
Yeah, yeah.
"Didn't I give you a matching robe for that?"
Don't push it.
"I'm just saying."
Fine. I grab the matching robe. It has a wide band of gathered elastic in the back that hits right above my tush, giving me shape, even though the robe isn't tied. Made of the same fabric as the pajamas, it doesn't add bulk the way most robes do, but instead almost serves as the same elegant look a long trench provides.
"HA!"
You are such a bad gloater.
"Too bad. You look utterly shaggable.'
Well I hope so, since I'm pretty sure Brian doesn't think he is coming over for an actual meeting.”
Stacey Ballis, Out to Lunch

Lee Child
“Why's everybody looking at me?" he asked.

"We checked the tape," she said. "You know, the surveillance camera."

"So?"

She wouldn't answer. He reviewed his time in the room. He'd showered twice, walked around some, pulled the drapes, slept, opened the drapes, walked around some more. That was all.

"I didn't do anything," he said.

She smiled again, wider. "No, you didn't."

"So what's the big deal?"

"Well, you know, you don't seem to have brought any pajamas.”
Lee Child, Running Blind

Kat Helgeson
“The heart wants what it wants, and my heart wants jammies and me time.”
Kat Helgeson, Say No to the Bro

Amy Lane
“Ellery made good on his threat to put on his pajamas—warm flannel, soft as a kitten’s ass. Jackson had actually gotten to sleep a couple of nights by petting those damned pajamas.”
Amy Lane, Red Fish, Dead Fish

“Sleeping solves a lot of problems.”
Alfred Slote, The Trouble on Janus

Steven Magee
“When strolling around a city center hospital for fun, it is good to put your pajamas on so they think you live there.”
Steven Magee
