“A man when he is making up to anybody can be cordial and gallant and full of little attentions and altogether charming. But when a man is really in love he can't help looking like a sheep.”

“We awaken by asking the right questions. We awaken when we see knowledge being spread that goes against our own personal experiences. We awaken when we see popular opinion being wrong but accepted as being right, and what is right being pushed as being wrong. We awaken by seeking answers in corners that are not popular. And we awaken by turning on the light inside when everything outside feels dark.”

“We are not sheep or cows. God didn’t create fences for us or boundaries to contain our nationalities. Man did. God didn’t draw up religious barriers to separate us from each other. Man did. And on top of that, no father would like to see his children fighting or killing each other. The Creator favors the man who spreads loves over the man who spreads hate. A religious title does not make anyone more superior over another. If a kind man stands by his conscience and exhibits truth in his words and actions, he will stand by God regardless of his faith. If mankind wants to evolve, we must learn from our past mistakes. If not, our technology will evolve without us.”

“A lion does not flinch at laughter coming from a hyena. A gorilla does not budge from a banana thrown at it by a monkey. A nightingale does not stop singing its beautiful song at the intrusion of an annoying woodpecker.”

“I’m not trying to impress you,â€ he replied, glancing up at the front of the room. “Gads,â€ he said, blinking in surprise. “What is that ?â€
Hyacinth followed his gaze. Several of the Pleinsworth progeny, one of whom appeared to be costumed as a shepherdess, were milling about.
“Now that’s an interesting coincidence, Gareth murmured.
“It might be time to start bleating, she agreed.
“I thought this was meant to be a poetry recitation.
Hyacinth grimaced and shook her head. “An unexpected change to the program, I’m afraid.
“From iambic pentameter to Little Bo Peep? he asked doubtfully. “It does seem a stretch.
Hyacinth gave him a rueful look. “I think there will still be iambic pentameter.
His mouth fell open. “From Peep?
She nodded, holding up the program that had been resting in her lap. “It’s an original composition, she said, as if that would explain everything. “By Harriet Pleinsworth. The Shepherdess, the Unicorn, and Henry VIII .
“All of them? At once?
“I’m not jesting, she said, shaking her head.
“Of course not. Even you couldn’t have made this up.
Hyacinth decided to take that as a compliment.
“Why didn’t I receive one of these? he asked, taking the program from her.
“I believe it was decided not to hand them out to the gentlemen,â€ Hyacinth said, glancing about the room. “One has to admire Lady Pleinsworth’s foresight, actually. You’d surely flee if you knew what was in store for you.”

“Most people are like sheep. Nice, harmless creatures who want nothing more than to be left alone so they can graze. But then of course there are wolves. Who want nothing more than to eat the sheep.
But there’s a third kind of person. The sheepdog. Sheepdogs have fangs like wolves. But their instinct isn’t predation. It’s protection. All they want, what they live for, is to protect the flock.”

“He glanced at the sheep photograph and nodded to himself. In his present state it did not seem strange to him that the police were apprehending sheep.”

“Sheep used to have wings. One flew into the sky and all the others followed. They took their wings off while feeding in the warm sun but the wind blew away their wings so they couldn't fly anymore. They had to return to earth by drifting to where the sky curves down and touches the land, and then walk round the long way.. i like that..”

“Look, we need to make time, but we also need to be somewhat quiet."
She faced him. "I am being quiet!"
Pathik held a finger up to his lips. "Seriously. Quite. You don't really want to attract a lot of attention out here if you can help it."
Rachel didn't like the sound of that. "Are there sheep-cats?”

“My book was not written in hate for Christians or disdain for the principles often associated with Jesus Christ—instead it was inspired by the ignorance that faith and religion often breed in humanity; the type of ignorance that allows people to self-identify as Christians (or any other religion) without having first researched the Holy Scriptures themselves in order to properly evaluate the religion’s veracity or falsity.”

“Jeg kommer ned i min kuffert efter kognak og hælder i et ølglas, jeg speider omkring mig, og da jeg finder mig alene rænder jeg i fÃ¥ret flere gode slurker. Jeg stræver længe med dette da dyret er gjenstridig, men da jeg tilslut fÃ¥r fat i dets tunge svælger det godt. Tungen var blÃ¥.”

“A sea-green sky: lamps blossoming white. This is marginal land: fields of strung wire, of treadless tyres in ditches, fridges dead on their backs, and starving ponies cropping the mud. It is a landscape running with outcasts and escapees, with Afghans, Turks and Kurds: with scapegoats, scarred with bottle and burn marks, limping from the cities with broken ribs. The life forms here are rejects, or anomalies: the cats tipped from speeding cars, and the Heathrow sheep, their fleece clotted with the stench of aviation fuel.”
