I liked this one a lot more than Brody's book (which is the last one I read...I skipped a couple as I had no interest in them). I thought Jude and Roni had really great chemistry and I really liked their history and connection. Jude was also my favorite kind of asshole.
I did feel like the author did a bit of a bit and switch with the ending...and completely changed the main point of contention between Jude/Roni at the last minute. And it felt a little bit like a cop out.
Otherwise, I enjoyed this and could see myself re-reading it again. ...more

After loving book one, I was so excited to see that there were more books in the series for me to devour. And I started this book straightaway with abandon.
And what a buzzkill, folks. Because not only did I not enjoy this one...it also made me have NO desire to read the book after this.
The main reason?
Jessa and "the secret" she says she's going to tell Brody right when the book starts...and then proceeds to not tell him until almost 90% in. So annoying. And when it finally arrived, it was SO lame.. I HATE when authors do that. It's obnoxious. And not only did she hang it over our heads the whole book, she taunted us with near misses throughout. And not in a good way.
She also managed to make me have zero desire to read the next book as I couldn't care less about either main lead. What a bummer.
Maybe I will come back to this series later, maybe not. But for now, no interest....more

This is my second Elizabeth O'Roark book (the first being THIS, which I really, really enjoyed) and I liked this well enough.
I love second chance stories and angst and this definitely delivered a bit on that front...but I would have liked to have seen everything a little more flashed out. I wanted more page time between Luke and Juliet...something to make their chemistry a little more hard-hitting for me.
I also thought Juliet's reason for...disappearing felt a little weak when it was finally revealed. Otherwise, a super decent read. I will definitely read more from this author....more

This book was recommended to me by my friend Leigh WAY earlier in the year. I actually tried reading it in June, but wasn't loving it. I found the h to be a little frustrating at the time (which was surprising as she's my kind of gal) and I decided perhaps the book wasn't for me; however, if I had to pick one person on goodreads with whom my reading tastes most align, it would be Leigh. So I decided to give it another chance when I was in the mood and I'm really glad I did.
In fact, the book ended with me wanting more and wishing it was longer. Loved Shiloh and Noah's relationship and LOVED Lawson. Already feel like re-reading it and possibly upgrading it....more

I love Autumn Jones Lake and her Lost Kings MC series, which I have read, re-read, and been obsessed with for years. I have also enjoyed the spin-off books she has done too. I've been hesitant to try this one as I thought it was a serial and I find those frustrating; however, I found out out this was a trilogy (much like a lot of her MC series, which have a few couples trilogies within it) and I decided to pull the trigger. The blush has come off the rose for me big time when it comes to the trilogy trend, but as I said, I love this author and her trilogies, so she's an exception for me.
I really enjoyed this. An up-and-coming rockstar romance with a little bit of the AJL MC life we love sprinkled in. It focuses on a couple you meet a little bit in the Lost Kings MC series and basically acts as a prequel scenario for how they met and fell in love. I also love that it's set in the late 1980's...because I love me some 80's/90's pop culture like you wouldn't believe.
I think fans of her MC series will definitely enjoy this...I only wish I had realized book three wasn't out until July. Oh well......more

But music is never about music. If it was, we'd be writing songs about guitars. But we don't. We write songs about women. Women will crush you, you know? I suppose everybody hurts everybody, but women always seem to get back up, you ever notice that? Women are always still standing."
This book has been read and reviewed ad nauseam and I am very late to do both, so I'll keep this brief...
I loved it.
I love music. And I know everyone says that, but I LOVE it. I was born in the 80's but raised on 60's and 70's protest rock. My dad would quiz me about how many bands Eric Clapton was in and what their names were. Crosby, Stills, and Nash is still my favorite band and I think that anyone who doesn't at least know who they and Joni Mitchell are, are straight up missing out on life.
I also love watching and reading everything I can get my hands on in terms of musician/band memoirs and I have seen every episode of Behind the Music.
But I digress.
Reading this was a such a cool experience. The interview format was really unique and the characters felt so real and three dimensional. Reid really is an exceptional storyteller. I read this right on the heels of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and all I can say is that I am looking forward to whatever Reid gives us next. Her stories have so many layers and different threads to grab onto...she touches on so many subjects in ways so subtle it's truly impressive.
Something I also really loved and appreciated about both this book and Evelyn is the way she writes her female characters and the interactions between her female characters. So many times, I feel like in books (as in life) women are constantly being pitted against each other and pushed into these corners of opposition. But in both this book as well as Evelyn, even when the female characters don't like each other, there is this underlying respect and appreciation in spite of it. There is no cattiness. And I find that SO refreshing.
I plan on reading both books again in the future and I'm so sad this one is over, that's for sure....more

This was my least favorite in the series (thus far), which was VERY surprising to me being that I had been very much looking forward to Marissa and Wroth's story for the last couple books.
Their scenes from previous books had led me to believe that their book was going to be awesome, but alas it was not meant to be. The chemistry they displayed previously was here in the beginning and then just just kept dwindling as the story continued.
Also, they were supposedly apart for more than a year over something that could have been solved over a year ago with a 5 minute conversation. Between that, their dwindling chemistry, and Wroth's insistence that Marissa (view spoiler)[remain a virgin (hide spoiler)], I just didn't feel all that invested in their relationship. In fact, I was more interested in the goings on between Devlin and Natalie.
Thus, by the time I got to one of the big end scenes ((view spoiler)[the whole Wizard of Oz thing (hide spoiler)]) - which I'm sure was super cute to most - I was just rolling my eyes at the cheesiness of it and practically skimming just to make it stop.
But I'm sure it was just me.
I'm hoping that this doesn't happen for the next book too. ...more

I really enjoyed this one. Like Rock Addiction, Rock Courtship is very different from Nalini Singh's other works...so don't go in expecting some Psy-Changeling/Guild Hunter type action or you are going to be sorely disappointed. If you liked Rock Addiction, however, you will love this one also.
David and Thea are both great characters - especially David. It's always refreshing to read about a rock star that isn't a typical cookie cutter man whore (not that I don't love those on occasion too). Still, it's nice to have man that doesn't feel the need to stick his plug in every outlet.
As usual, Singh's writing is flawless. On a side note, I really like her heroines. They are (usually) very level-headed women with a sense of calm self-awareness that I really enjoy. It's nice to have a heroine that is a reasonable, mature, adult - and acts like it - in a sea of of sometimes vapid, insecure, whiny females.
What I think I loved most about this story though is the more in depth look at the family that is School Boy Choir. In this novella, we get more back story about the band, their formation, and the familial bonds shared between them all. I always love stories with an overarching sense of brotherhood, and that is definitely an element in this series.

Back to the review...
This book is the first non-paranormal book I have ever read from Nalini Singh. I have read her entire Psy-Changeling Series as well as her entire Guild Hunter Series and both were awesome.
I knew from reading the pre-release review of the fabulous Kristen (Peddler of Smut ) that this book was nothing like either of those series and had no paranormal elements. Thus, I knew to go into this not expecting a so-called "standard" Nalini Singh.
And I'm glad I did because this was definitely nothing like her previous series; however, while it may not have had all the awesome paranormal/plot driven elements I equate with Psy-Changeling/Guild, it most definitely had all the awesomeness I equate with Nalini Singh:
- Outstanding Writing - Great characters - Seamless plot flow

Shocking, I know.
Anyhoo, the story picks up where the last one left off - with Gabby circumventing the kidnapping of Emmie and Nik's daughter Mia by protecting her and subsequently getting shot.

BANG.

I apologize.
I just had to put that in here.
Because it's seriously so what in the ever living fuck ridiculous that I can't even take it.
But I digress.
So Gabby gets shot like it's the OK Corral - and she's NOT Wyatt Earp - and the book picks up with everyone trying to find her and Mia.
And when they do, Liam loses his shit that she's at death's door.
From there it kinda of turns into If I Stay, rock star style, complete with constant FLASHBACKS.
Which I usually loathe.
But in this case?
Flashbacks of how Liam and Gabby met and all of the other bitchy things Gabby did in previous books - and why she did them - are sprinkled in between scenes depicting the present.
With some of this:

This was an enjoyable read. We got to check in with all the couples of Demon's Wings and then some. I especially liked the scenes with Drake and Lana (who may or may not be my favorite couple overall) and Jesse and Layla (who may or may not tie for first place with Drake and Lana). We also had scenes with Harper and Shane, Nik and his Ember, and even Axton and Dallas.
Seriously though, this had everything but the kitchen sink. So much so, in fact, that reading this thing made me feel like a pinball being jacked around in a pinball machine with no clear purpose.
In other words, there was just no clear story line; and while this sometimes left me feeling...adrift...
...I still enjoyed it all immensely.
The only thing that bothered me about this book - and what might be what keeps me from 4/5 starring a lot of the books in this series actually...is Emmie.
That's right. The supposed "glue" that hold this motley crew (rock band Motley Crue pun totally intended) together drives me up a wall sometimes. Seriously, I want to slap her.
It's like she's everywhere, in everyone's business, being bitchy and going off on Nik for no reason at all half the time...ALL the time.
And the way that everyone seems to be unable function without her planning and guiding them through everything is annoying as fuck. Seriously, these are people who are grown adults and have supposedly "been through shit" and yet they seem unable to complete the simplest of life tasks without Emmie's assistance.
It's mind boggling to me.
Everything that happens in this book (and most of the books in fact) seems to be met with the response, "Call Emmie."
"Call Emmie"
"Call Emmie."
Call me annoyed.
But I digress.
I felt like this book is almost acting as a bridge between the Demon's Wings books and the beginning of the OtherWorld books, which was kind of cool. It definitely acted as further fodder for the relationship between Axton and Dallas, whose book is up next.
Overall, this series is like a B movie on steroids - a guilty pleasure that I love. ...more

I think my expectations were perhaps a little high for this one, although I really enjoyed it. Drake was a great character and I loved how much he loved Lana.
However, a few things about the story bothered me a little bit, namely (view spoiler)[ how quick and abrupt Lana is to just suddenly let go of and get over the whole Gabrielle incident.
In fact, now that I think about it, that has kind of been the case in each book so far. The lead male does something (or least the h thinks he does) and she gets all pissed at him...just to quickly and suddenly get over it. It comes off abrupt to me, if that makes sense...I feel like it should be drawn out a little more...with some groveling. I am a fan of groveling. lol (hide spoiler)]

I really enjoyed this. Shane was the typical reformed manwhore who suddenly only has eyes for "his girl" and I love that character cliche - seriously, it nevers get old. He was a total sweetie for Harper (after a bump or two in the road, of course) and his dirty talk?

However, there were a couple plot points that made me scratch my head in confusion.
1) (view spoiler)[The whole sex club/dip our toes into bdsm thing. (hide spoiler)] It just didn't fit in this book - or within the jive of this series as a whole - in my opinion. It seems like ever since a certain book came out, everyone feels the need to throw this into the mix now.
2) (view spoiler)[The way Shane planned the dinner with Harper's mother and sister and didn't tell her about it. Ummmm, why? (hide spoiler)] This just seemed silly to me and I felt like it was added simply to create a drama blow-up moment, kind of like the (view spoiler)[sister showing up at the end and Harper freaking out (hide spoiler)], but at least that fit and made some sense...although, how hard is it really to (view spoiler)[pick up a phone Shane? It takes like two minutes...and cell phones go with you where you go, remember? (hide spoiler)]
But whatever, I'll take it.

Overall, I really enjoyed Shane and Harper's story. I liked Harper. She was level headed and didn't annoy me.
