I was very intrigued by the synopsis of this story. Sexy football player, kinky secrets, and mystery lovers sounded too delicious to pass up, so I didn't.
The author tells the story in dual POV so it's fun to know what each of the characters is thinking, but not sharing with each other. But it will make you want to whisper secrets in their ear to move things along quicker. I'm not talking about their sexy times, that part was good from the get-go. It's their hidden identities that I was anxious to be revealed. The anticipation was exciting as I imagined how it would eventually play out.
Another thing that kept me on edge was the possibility of Gage's greatest fear actually happening. His privacy means everything to him and the media finding out about his sexual proclivities would be scandalous. Not that it would hurt his career, we all know that single athletes are always in the news. But what would it do to his straight-laced family to learn his secret in such a public way? Better not to ever find out, right? That's why he takes such extreme measures to protect himself.
What I wasn't expecting was to find myself so emotionally invested in the events surrounding the opening of the new wing at the children's hospital. My heartstrings were pulled tight. I know this story is the third in the Rough Riders series, but I read it as a standalone. I had no problem keeping up, but I did meet some amazing support characters that made me interested in reading the previous installments.

Saying that I'm addicted to the Torpedo Ink series would be an understatement. It is the world where I discovered the amazing talent of Christine Feehan. There are so many things that I love about her style of writing. She draws you in and makes you feel something. She somehow brings her characters to life in a way that you feel like you are experiencing everything with them. This series, in particular, as the members of the club are survivors, is extremely graphic in a way that you feel their pain and their fury as they remember or tell others what happened to them.
Because of their shared past, their bond is unbreakable. They are family. As the series continues, the different members find love, and it doesn't come easy. They have good reason to be cautious about outsiders. They have up close and personal experience with betrayal. They've also said and done things to survive that make them question themselves. My heart breaks for all of them, and in Savage Road it's Savage that pulled my heart strings. "No one, no one could love a monster, least of all an angel. And that's what Seychelle is to him, his angel.
She has so much light, and he has so much darkness. He thinks he doesn't deserve her. He's afraid his demons are too much for her to handle. Will he be strong enough to let her try?
This series has so many moving parts. So much that keeps me coming back for more. There's club business as they deal with enemies and danger, working together to protect their family. They are beautifully broken bossy badasses which are my kryptonite. Who can resist all that yumminess? Let's not forget the kinky sexy times, plenty of those to keep you running the AC in winter. They each have unexplainable and very interesting gifts. And there is very entertaining banter that keeps me giggling in between. Here's one of my faves. "Stop saying fuck and angel in the same sentence, Savage," she whispered. "You're going to go to hell if you keep that up."

I had to share that with you, it made me giggle. While this story has some of the things that I've come to expect and always enjoy, it surprised me as well. I'd classify this one as romantic suspense. I really enjoyed the mystery-solving side of the journey the author took me on. I also enjoyed meeting the new characters that were introduced in the telling of this tale.
That being said, nothing compares to spending time with my favorite characters. Søren...sigh. He's dark and deep and delicious, right? And then there's Kingsley and Nora and their banter that never fails to entertain. The three of them have an unbreakable bond that somehow manages to get tested again and again. With so much pain in their past and a fragile future weighing on them with Søren's suspension, things are a little uncertain.
I got all caught up in being a virtual detective as different clues were discovered and secrets were uncovered. It was exciting to anticipate and try to figure things out along the way. I already had a girl-crush on Nora, she's so fearless and feisty, but she took it up another notch when she became a sleuth in stilettos. That poor PI had no clue what he was in for when he asked Nora to help with his investigation.
Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this addictive, funny, sexy, sometimes sweet and sometimes sad, and surprisingly suspenseful story. I didn't expect to love this anthology as much as I did. It's not like any other that I've read before. Every novella answers a question that I've had while reading the Original Sinners series, and some that it never crossed my mind to ask. Blanks were filled in while I revisited some favorite memories and characters I've grown to love through the author's incredible writing.
Tiffany Reisz is the #QueenOfKink in my mind. She opened my eyes to things I'd never considered before. She had me going to places virtually that I'd never go in reality, and loving every second of the experience. Her wit and sarcasm through her character's witty banter is one of my favorite things about her writing. She can shock me one minute and have me laughing out loud the next.
I must also mention that she touches my emotions. Yes, I actually cried while reading this book. The characters live outside the box and their idea of normal is not the same as mine. But their hearts are huge and their love is strong. They make sacrifices, sometimes in secret, for each other that go above and beyond. I never pass up an opportunity to dive into a Tiffany Reisz story, no matter where she decides to take me, I never regret the journey. Okay, I confess, it was the hot cover that caught my attention. I've never read Brianna Hale before, but once I read the synopsis I was too intrigued to pass up Control Freak. I'm so glad that I gave it a chance, I loved it. I'll most definitely be keeping an eye out for her future works.
I was surprisingly very interested in the demons that Lacey faced hourly, not just daily. She struggles to cope and with trying to live life as expected by others. She's surviving, but just barely. She remembers what it used to be like to smile and be happy but doesn't expect to ever feel that way again.
Lacey is drawn to her new boss almost against her will. He's beyond sexy in a suit, and those tattoos, and that accent...sigh. "I start to become distracted, because while he's a jerk he's kind of a gorgeous jerk, with a sculpted face and a generous, surly mouth. I like the way he says dis and dat instead of this and that."Distraction is good, right? Something else to focus on that's not her.

With that synopsis, I had no idea what I was in for when I started reading this story. While everything mentioned is true, what I felt the strongest was the suspense...and the super hot bodyguard. 😉
I confess I'm a geek. I totally dig all the behind-the-scenes surveillance and hacking involved when a security team is protecting someone. I get all caught up in the danger and trying to figure out where the threat is coming from and how they're gonna catch the bad guy(s). And, my meddling doesn't end there. Nope, I wanna get all up in the character's personal business too.
I was not quiet with my very strong opinions about some specific characters that shall remain unnamed so as not to spoil it for you. But, I'm positive you'll be willing to join me for some target practice later where we can hang a few photos to aim at. Yes, you got that right, there is more than one person that raised my hackles.
I also have to give the author a shout out for the entertaining inner dialogue and witty banter. That beautiful bodyguard has brains too, he's not just muscle. "And I should also mention that he has a very dirty mouth and he doesn't care when or where he uses it."

I read Scary Hot as a standalone. It was Z & Kayan that had most of my attention, but meeting their besties was a treat too. They must have made quite an impression on K.D. for her to have written them so well. She also made me excited to hop on the Club Alias train and take a ride. Intrigued is an understatement.
I might need to take a muscle relaxer before going to bed tonight. I smiled so hard while reading this story that I might have strained my face muscles. And I'm still doing it now. I can't stop. Confession, this was my first C.L. Riley read. What the hell is wrong with me? How did I not know about her? If y'all follow my reviews you know I have a very serious MC Romance addiction and somehow she's flown under my radar until now. I shall be remedying that and commence stalking immediately. I read Rowdy as a standalone, but now I'm intrigued by the Soul Scorchers MC series and plan to eventually go back and binge-read it.
I met Trina first and she had my full support very quickly. She's so smart and brave. After learning what had her running from her past to an unknown future with a cranky biker I was totally invested. I'm all for having each other's back, but in this situation, I was glad to only be her virtual girlfriend. That's some seriously scary shit she's hiding from!
Rowdy is hiding too, from his club and himself. His injuries prevent him from fulfilling his duties as president of his motorcycle club so he's kind of on medical leave. When his VP decides to meddle in his life and hire a care provider to help him heal and regain his strength his immediate response is not positive. However, when he meets her, something that he thought was broken started working again right away. His big head took a little longer... 😉
The spark between Rowdy & Trina was undeniable, though neither would admit to it. Let's just say he was having some naughty nurse fantasies. They are both very stubborn and it was fun to see them go toe-to-toe. Their banter was very entertaining. Throw in the 'club business' on top of the danger that Trina hoped to leave behind, but didn't, and this tale is nonstop nail-biting excitement. There was more than one explosion in this story, and it is HOT!
There are also some amazing support characters that I'm looking forward to getting to know better in future installments. The author teased me just enough to guarantee that I can't stop thinking about it. I enjoyed Stacey Kennedy's Club Sin series so I decided to check out her latest standalone. While one has nothing to do with the other, one thing is consistent in her stories. She writes a gentle but bossy man with a big heart very well.
Right from the beginning, I was on team Olivia. She's been dealt a bad hand in life so far and deserves a win. All the years she wasted on her cheating ex can never be regained. There's not enough tears, chocolate or wine to solve her problems, but she does have a best friend to listen and offer her a place to stay. Like the good friend that she is, not only is she helping her drown her sorrows, but she's got a plan to cheer her up. Why not fulfill a fantasy or two by trying out this hot new dating app everyone is talking about? She gets the info and encourages her to step outside of her comfort zone and try something new. Playing it safe hasn't paid off for her. Not with her fiancé, her house, or her job. So, why not? What has she got to lose that she hasn't already lost?
Woo Hoo! What an adventure it was to join Olivia on her quest to find herself. I don't blame her. I'd love to get lost in the arms of sexy Noah and then look for myself there later. Rinse. Repeat.

I read Running Blind as a standalone. It was my introduction to S.E. Jakes. Yeah, those that follow my reviews probably guessed right away that it was the motorcycle on the cover that got my attention. It's no secret that I'm a badass biker addict and MC Romance is my favorite genre.
While this is the second book in the Havoc series I read it as a standalone. I had no problem jumping right in. The characters that were featured in the first book were present but I wasn't lost at all. From the very first page, I was in Bram's head. At first that was a confusing place to be but eventually, all the pieces fell into place and I was fully on board with his predicament. He was hiding from the motorcycle club that he's been on the verge of patching into as an undercover ATF agent. Before that could happen he attempted to bail but was caught and beaten to within an inch of his life. He needs time to heal but the pain won't stop him from searching for his missing brother, Linc.
As S.E. Jakes is a new-to-me author I wasn't aware I was reading an M/M Romance until I got to the first sex scene, and boy was that an eye-opener. Let's just say that Sweet wasn't so 'sweet', and he liked it. 😉
Next thing I knew all hell had broken loose and he learns that Sweet is the president of Havoc MC and the other MC that wants him dead has learned where he is and they are coming for him. Will Sweets throw him to the wolves or protect him? Should he reveal his ATF affiliation or will that guarantee his death? Where is his brother and is he safe? Will Havoc help him find him or turn him over to his enemies? Does he want to be on top or does he prefer the bottom?

I've read and loved many Tiffany Reisz stories. I never know from what direction she's going to approach a story but I do know it's gonna be kinky. She never fails to entertain me and make me fall in love with her characters. They always have colorful personalities and their witty banter is very amusing.
This story was very original. It was softer and sweeter than what I'm used to. I found myself getting very attached to the cowboy and I caught myself smiling many times as I read his POV. I especially enjoyed meeting the kinky girl of his dreams right along with him. Seeing her through his eyes and being privy to his thoughts and feelings as he yearned for something that he'd never allowed himself to explore previously.
Reuniting with some of my favorite Original Sinners characters was a treat. It made me sigh in remembrance, tempted to go back and read their story again. You can't go wrong reading anything this author writes, she's an auto-click author for me. I've traveled the world with her and I've gone from dungeons to barns. If she writes it, I'll read it. After reading the Mission: Accomplished novellas I've been anxiously awaiting Brian & Clarice's story. They are the cutest couple ever. Him being 6'8" and her being a tiny ball of fire, they are perfect together. They've been best friends and lovers for years. So, why did she clam up every time he tried to tell her he wanted more?
My curiosity has been killing me. I knew that Clarice had secrets and I wanted to know what they were. Also, I've been excited about her meeting Brian's friends and visiting Club Alias. My heart has been yearning to see these two committed and living their happily-ever-after. And, I confess I'm kinda addicted to their missions too. I love it when Brian earns his rewards. 😉
I kinda worried I had built up the anticipation so much in my mind that I might be disappointed when I finally got the chance to read their story. Isn't that what sometimes happens at the movies? Well, let me tell you, that is not the case here. Knight exceeded my expectations. I agree with Clarice that, "No, not even my fantasies could've dreamed up a man like Brian Glover." He is indeed a gentle giant when it comes to Clarice, a fierce protector of those close to him, and a badass mercenary when it comes to his enemies. I was thrilled when the Stark Trilogy turned into the Stark Saga, I got more than I hoped for when Damien & Nikki's story exceeded three books. Their love is so intense and consuming that I'm as addicted to them as they are to each other. As long as the author keeps writing them, I'll keep reading and loving every page.
Just as they believed that their love was so strong that nothing could ever separate them, I did too. But, sometimes love isn't enough. Sometimes life throws things at you that you aren't prepared to deal with. Being the celebrities that they are, Damien and Nikki struggle to find privacy and when they face challenges they usually end up having to endure them for all the world to see in spite of having the best security and legal team his billions can buy. The media loves them and their enemies keep coming, greed and jealousy always just around the corner.
Will they be able to withstand the storm headed their way? Can she continue to trust Damien when she knows he's still keeping secrets? Am I the only one that sighs every time he tells her, Until then, imagine me, touching you." I melt into a puddle of goo every single time. I confess, I read this novella as a standalone. I've not read the author's Club Alias series yet. But after meeting a few of the characters I can guaran-damn-tee that I will be rectifying that soon.
I can't believe that I managed so many giggle-snorts reading so few pages, but it was sooo entertaining. The witty banter between Brian Glover and his partner, Seth had me very intrigued about their mercenary/security business and their high-end BDSM club. Being a techie myself, I wanted to see Seth's 'spaceship'.
I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just tell you that I was amazed that I was able to connect so quickly with the characters and that their dialogue was so expressive that I could feel their emotions. Usually, it takes more backstory for me to reach that level.
I really enjoyed Rendezvous and I would love to spend more time with the team, with the couples, and in the BDSM club.

Confession, this is my second Kindle World novella with Brian & Clarice, but I haven't read the Club Alias books yet. These two really have me chomping at the bit to get a taste of the #DeliciousDoms I've been getting small glimpses of as they provide backup for Brian during his missions. And speaking of Brian & Clarice, they are so adorable together. He's 6'8" tall and a badass mercenary, but when he's with her he turns into a pussycat.
When Brian learns the location of his latest mission he's thrilled to discover that Clarice is already nearby photographing a wedding. He gets to have his cake and eat it too, and I don't mean wedding cake. Nope, his secret lover is still keeping him in the #FriendZone, even though she knows he wants more. I'm not sure what's up with that, and I can't wait to find out.
I really enjoyed putting on my profiler hat and working the case with Brian and his team. But I can't deny that I enjoyed the sexy banter between #BigGuy and his #Lover even more. Their chemistry is blazing and their sexy shenanigans are very entertaining. I really hope there will be many more missions in their future. These short little stories are very fulfilling, and I'm amazed how much content is packed into them. They always leave me wanting more, but not left hanging.

See, I knew there was a reason I bonded with Clarice, I love those shows too! Would it be wrong of me to admit that I'm not anxious for the author to write Brian's full-length story yet? I'm kinda sorta definitely addicted to these incredible novellas that feature Brian and Clarice having their hook-ups in different locations when he has a new mission to complete. I love the suspense and especially their version of #StripClues as they review the details of whatever case he's working on. I'm also addicted to the delicious anticipation of knowing that they will eventually admit they are more than 'best-friends-with-benefits' and move to the next level in their relationship. But, I can wait, as long as these stories keep coming...
I can't tell you how much I love this cute couple. Yes, I know, Brian is a 6'8" tall badass mercenary and doesn't seem the type to be 'cute'. But when he's with Clarice, who's a foot shorter than him, their banter is adorable and in his eyes, she's an Amazon.
I may or may not have done a Google image search to do a little research of my own regarding a piece of BDSM equipment I'd not heard of previously. Let's just say that being 'educational' is another perk of these little Club Alias shorts. 😉
As I've mentioned previously, it's amazing how much story K.D. Robichaux manages to cram into a novella. I enjoy them so much and never feel short-changed. I admit, I kinda didn't know what I was in for when I decided to follow a favorite author over to the dark side. But, since discovering Nicole Edwards five years ago, she's not disappointed me yet. I love her writing style and she's taken me to places I would not have ventured otherwise. She made me fall in love with her Walker brothers and gave me a virtual tour of Club Destiny and ever since I haven't shied away from whatever kink she introduced me to in her stories. I'm a willing voyeur, ready to read and learn. And let me tell you, Their Ruthless Sadist was an education I won't soon forget.
I met Zeke in Their Famous Dominant. In that story, he was big, badass and broody but I wasn't fooled. Yes, he's HUGE, being six foot eight inches, two hundred eighty pounds of solid muscle. But, how bad could he be if he's an animal lover, right? I didn't know, but when I learned that he was getting his own book, I was anxious to find out. I was curious about what would make a man determined to close himself off from feeling emotions and seek only to inflict physical pain on those who desire it. He calls it playing, but there is no smiling involved on his part. He's always looking, but so far hasn't found anyone who can handle his idea of pleasure. They all seek him out, his reputation preceding him, but they've all been a disappointment so far. Until them...the cowboy and the pretty boy. Maybe that's what he needed all along, more than one.
Of course, I was mentally matchmaking from the beginning. That's what I do. Being inside Zeke's head, I knew he had closed his heart off. But I'm a hopeless romantic and I was not giving up on him, even though he had given up on himself. There's someone for everyone, right? Or maybe even two someones. I have no problem with #KinkClubs #TeasingTorture #OfficeSex #HumiliatingHunks or #SexySadists. I don't judge, we all like what we like and love who we love.
What I didn't expect was for the author to make me cry. Yes, it's true. I became so invested in these characters, getting to know them, feeling their pain both good and bad. She pulled my heartstrings so tight the tears were released against my will. She warned me what I was in for before I read the first page, but like the cowboy and the pretty boy, I signed on believing I knew what to expect. We were all wrong.
I'm loving all the characters I've met in this series and I'm excited about where it might go next. I've got my fingers crossed about a certain couple that I'm hoping will get together.
