It was very entertaining and I love how the chapters are divided and only focus on that one topic the entire chapter. It was easy to follow! As for the plot, and the reason for the -0.5 star, I don’t exactly like the idea of making a “deal with the devil in exchange for your life. As a Christian, I would never think to do that, BUT! There is a BUT I see the point about valuing your life while you’re on earth. In the end, materialistic things don’t add anything to your life and you must live your life to the fullest and with meaning. This was a great novel overall and I would actually still recommend it to people!...more

The plot twists were good. I don’t think I quite understood who was the bad guy in the end. It seems like every character was a liar and I don’t know who to believe. I thought Robin was the real victim, but at the end of the book it talks about Robin being the one cutting her own hair, not her dad; making him seem like a terrible, abusive father. I’m going to throw in some scripture in this review because I feel it’s necessary. As I got towards the end of the book, all I kept thinking was how “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. - 1 Timothy 6:10. How sad is it to see that in the end, Gatsby didn’t get the girl (Daisy), he had no real friends, and he lost his life over it all. Not a single thing he desired and made an idol of, went with him to his grave. No one showed up to his funeral. & How hypocritical of Tom to tell Mr. Wilson that Gatsby “killed his wife (he didn’t) because he wanted Mr. Wilson to know the “truth of his wife’s death, yet he didn’t bother to tell him that he was messing with Myrtle. And Daisy? Sheesh. Talk about gold digger. Not only was she stepping out in her marriage, but she hated her husband and married out of comfortability, not for love. And there wasn’t even loyalty within friendships in this story either. Mr. Wolfsheim was his friend, and HE couldn’t even show up to the funeral. The ending was disappointing in terms of how Gatsby gained nothing, but instead lost everything. :( Loved the writing style. It was easy to read and understand. By the way, I did not get any “gay vibes from Nick. Y’all are tripping ...more

I like the style of how it was written. It was basically a book of letters written to a stranger (who was never revealed) by a boy named Charlie. A freshman in high school going through the motions of depression, friendships, family dramas, sex, and drugs. Charlie was a huge people pleaser and a very sweet, honest kid. He was just journaling his days because he had no one else to talk to about his deepest feelings. He found comfort and safety in knowing that the person he was sending these letters to didn’t know who he was either. This is very raw, real, and authentic to someone who is living their high school experience.
P.s. I watched the movie and it was SO GOOD. ...more

This book was interesting to say the least. Let me start off by saying that I went out of my comfort zone in reading this book. I don’t normally read contemporary fiction that is written in third-person and especially a story about video games, so I was coming in with low expectations. I’m giving this a 2.75 stars because while I found this book entertaining enough to keep reading, it wasn’t what I expected. When the author mentions that this is a love story but not one that we’ve read before, she wasn’t lying. The relationships between the three main characters Sam, Sadie, and Marx, was strange. I could not connect with any of them. Although the book started off interesting and was well written, I found myself skipping through some pages and chapters that I found were unnecessary. This book jumps from past to present which wasn’t TOO hard to keep track of, yet sometimes it WAS hard to keep track of. Sadie and Sam had conflict the entire time and it was never resolved. I thought surely Sam and Sadie would fall in love while creating games together; at least, that’s the impression I got from reading the synopsis, but it was the complete opposite of that. Something worth mentioning is that this book is geared towards LGBTQ, which I wish I would have known before purchasing. I also think it’s weird to call an unborn child a “parasite, but given that Sadie had just lost her boyfriend and struggled with depression, I’m going to assume that was a normal reaction for her character. Overall, I think I enjoyed reading it for the most part, but it’s not something I would ever read again. I’d say that one thing I DID enjoy was learning about the process of creating a game. I didn’t realize how much time and effort it took to create one and now I have a new found respect for gaming creators!...more

It was heart breaking to see that Daniel and Alexis fell in love, but couldn’t ever be together. Their worlds were too different and it would never work for them. Imagine falling in love with someone you can’t have. I can totally relate to that and that’s why I felt this is my heart. The end of chapter 35 was SO SAD! “Then she was gone. When I looked at the title, I was expecting not to enjoy it as much because it sounded like it would be repetitive. Reading about the same Valentines Day OVER & OVER again? That just sounded like it would be .. boring? However, I was pleasantly MISTAKEN. Yes, the FMC was in a time loop where she lived through February 14th multiple times, but each day was always different in a way that added to the story. My understanding was that she was meant to RIGHT any WRONGS from the previous day. I even assumed that she was meant to realize that she was celebrating a Valentine’s Day with the wrong boy and all along was suppose to be with ❤️Nick❤️. Eventually the time loop ended and Emilie faced the consequences of the day before, thinking that the day would repeat itself ONCE AGAIN and wouldn’t have to worry about the repercussions. Boy was she in for a treat! In the end, she and Nick ended up together; even though, he was making me so upset when he almost jeopardized their chance of being together over a silly notion that he “didn’t have time for a relationship. One of my favorite scenes was when Emilie stole Nick’s keys and as she’s running away from him, she’s teasing him about not giving back his keys, so what does Nick do? Chases after her, picks her up over his shoulder, and keeps her there til they get to the car. Mind you, she’s laughing the whole way there, LOL! It was literally such a fun and cute book! ☺️...more

It was tough for me to rate it lower than I normally do, but that is only because I don’t feel like the characters were described well enough. I love Wesley’s character SO MUCH. Something about the bad boy type makes my heart flutter lol. I love any story that has to do with enemies-to-lovers <3 It was a cute little high school love and I enjoyed the song references. I feel like Liz’s character was a bit too much in terms of desperately chasing after a guy and losing your best friend in the process. However, I can relate to her so much in wanting to be LOVED like in the rom-com movies! I think my favorite line in the book had to be when Wes tells Liz “she’s not you, LOVE IT!❤️ overall, I enjoyed reading this during the week of Valentines Day :]...more

I was really excited to see how Millie and Enzo were like as a married couple with two kids. I was happy to see that when another murder occurs, Millie isn’t the first suspect.. FINALLY. I was mad anytime the neighbor, Suzette, made flirtatious comments and gestures towards Enzo because HELLO? That’s Millie’s husband! What upset me more is that Enzo did nothing to stop her. Throughout the book, Enzo was acting real suspicious. As if he was hiding something. I started to lose my hope for this character and then when Suzette’s husband ends up murdered, I was almost convinced Enzo killed him. This is where the book takes a HUGE turn! I even thought at some point it was Nico who killed her husband, but no it was Ada! The one you’d least expect. When I tell you I GASPED at this reveal. I had to tell my dad all about it because I scared him LOL! Needless to say, this book had me on my toes and I could not put it down. 5 star read for sure!! Lastly, I wanted to add that Millie wasn’t being her true character in this book. She wasn’t as protective or snoopy as she normally is which was frustrating because she let a lot of stuff slide. But I guess being a mom now and more mature, we can’t expect her to always act the way she did in her twenties! Let’s give her some grace :) Also, I want to shout out my favorite Aubrey family. Thank you for always reading my reviews! Love ya!! ...more

A perfect little snippet of Millie & Enzo’s wedding day! I don’t see why many readers are giving this such bad reviews or complaining that it was an unnecessary addition to The Housemaid series. I personally loved being able to see Mille & Enzo get married and to learn that she is also PREGNANT! So cute. Their wedding wasn’t anything romantic with getting married at city hall; but when two people are in love, why does that matter? :) Also, adding a bit of suspense to this short read was keeping with the writing style of Freida McFadden, so I really enjoyed it. The speck of toxic inside of me likes how Enzo threatens this mysterious guy wanting to hurt Millie on their wedding day. We love a man who’s PROTECTIVE of his wife and child!...more

Seriously, I don’t think a book has taken me by surprise like this one did! Imagine thinking your best friend is dead for 6 months only to find out that she had been alive this whole time. Faking her death. Hiding. From her boyfriend who happens to be the school’s psychologist! A story about an underage girl who fell in love with the psychologist at her high school. Except, this man was dangerously possessive over her enough to want to kill her if he couldn’t have her to himself. Mr. Wilkens was going to hurt Ella too, but at Hayley’s rescue, she shows up and hits him with a bat. HAYLEY! SHE WAS ALIVE and all she left with Ella was a letter explaining to her what actually happened to her 6 months ago. Ella got closure. Her and Sawyer officially got together. And they both kept in touch with Hayley; or should I say, Hazel because she changed her identity when Hayley Miller died in that car accident. SO GOOD! There is a lot of talk about domestic violence and sex in this book, but I think this is a great, interesting read for sure :)...more

I was thrilled to see that Millie and Enzo were part of this continuation of the series. I’m also glad they were able to have their happy ending. This book didn’t have me guessing or assuming what was going to happen next like a few of Freida’s books have done. I was certainly shocked to see that Wendy’s character was a very manipulative, gold digging, lying, mentally abusive woman. The way she tried to pin the murder of her husband on Millie, who already had a criminal record of committing murder, was unfair. I can’t imagine how many people this has happened to in real life because they are an easy suspect. In the end, Millie was free and Wendy “killed herself. At least, that’s what Marybeth, who’s husband was having an affair with Wendy, made her write in her suicide note. I couldn’t put this book down because I’ve developed a connection with Millie and wanted to know if she wouldn’t be going back to prison after all! She deserves to live a life of freedom!!...more

I think she is my new favorite author alongside Colleen Hoover LOL. This was so well written and very interesting. I think my favorite part about the whole book though was the ending. Finding out that Andrew did all of what he did to Millie & Nina because his mom did the same thing to him as a baby was such an important detail to end the book with. People’s actions are influenced by their childhood trauma and this is something so realistic that people deal with. This book was so hard to put down and I kept thinking about it when I wasn’t reading, lol. Also, the plot twist was surprising! I believed that Nina was the abuser, yet the whole time it was Andrew. What was even more crazy of a plot twist was that Nina hired Millie, not just to be her maid, but to have her husband (Andrew) killed, given that Millie had just been released from prison for murder. Nina wanted out and Millie was her escape. 5 stars! I’m really excited to read the 2nd book to this series next! ...more

It had a lot of chapters which made reading this FLY BY! This is a book that takes you from past to present scenarios and it wasn’t confusing at all to follow. It was hard for me to put the book down, but I also couldn’t help but feel a lot of frustration in many parts. Brooke is someone who likes to see the good in people which allows for her to be manipulated easily. (I’m learning new book terminology as I get deeper into the reading world, lol) but the fmc female main character Brooke is the reason I was feeling frustrated. She was very gullible and naïve most of the time. There were many parts where I felt like she should have known who the killer was, but of course, the plot twist at the end shot down the assumptions I made of who I thought the killer was. I also think the epilogue was random and adding Josh’s (Brooke’s son) POV was not necessary. Still, I think this book was good and excited to read more books from this author! :)...more

I absolutely loved this book. One of my favorite influencers, Jess Conte, rated this her number one book of 2024 so I knew I had to read it. It was a cute love story where the girl character, Hannah, played hard to get up until the end. With good reason because her job didn’t allow her to form any relationships with her clients. What was labeled as her being a “body guard, I saw more as like a special agent in a protection program. Her character was SO COOL and I loved her! Jack Stapleton? An even better character. He wasn’t a typical egotistical, stuck up, player type movie star; instead, he was charming, funny, and an ordinary chivalrous guy. I love that these characters didn’t kiss until the very end because when that scene happened, it was MAGICAL! This book has everything from breakups to friend betrayal, grieving the loss of family to attempted murder while keeping romance and comedy in the forefront. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! <3...more
