I love Mary Oliver and obviously Dream work wasn't an exception. With hits such as "Wild geese" and "Dogfish" (the quote "mostly, I want to be kind" hI love Mary Oliver and obviously Dream work wasn't an exception. With hits such as "Wild geese" and "Dogfish" (the quote "mostly, I want to be kind" has been my motto for a while but I don't feel like I had read the whole poem before, and, to be honest, the rest of it reinforced me in believing in that...), there were many that didn't have a full emotional impact on me (not every poetry collection can be Felicity) but I still find beautiful and meaningful. These days, we need to be reminded of the beauty of this world despite its horrors, and that appreciating one is not denying the other.

Decidà leerlo diariamente, un año más tarde de lo que Atef Abu Saif narra, y la verdad que ha sido una experiencia bastante difÃcil. El peso de los horrores que se han vivido y se viven en Palestina, lo cotidianos que se vuelven, el conocimiento de saber que son esos 60 dÃas más otros 365 dÃas y todos los que siguen. La esperanza del autor (y del pueblo) de que acabe todo y a la vez saber que no va a ocurrir, desde luego no pronto. Ojalá cada dÃa estemos más cerca. Viva Palestina libre de ocupación genocida, y viva la fuerza de su gente....more

It was interesting to read this "first" (famous) installment of the Moomin series after having read other novels. It really feels different, like it's finding it's footing, not ready to be its own world yet and falling back to more classic children book's tropes like the many monster fighting scenes. It was still really cute, I liked the introduction to all the characters and how unique they feel. I wish I could read the revised version though, because I kept thinking how strange it was to me that Tove Jansson would keep certain elements and, guess what, she didn't in the revision! But at least with this earlier translation we get queer and gay acts (as in, normal adjectives to use back then to mean strange and happy, which I always love to see)....more

Pero ya os digo yo que no es eso, esta novela gráfica es la cosa más triste del mundo sobre la precariedad de ser muy joven o muy mayor y sobre todo de ser pobre. DirÃa que esos temas pesan más incluso que el tema del Alzheimer en sÃ. No está mal, pero supongo que no era lo que yo querÃa que fuese...more
